Description Some tips and tricks in general:

- put a paper under your drawing hand, so you don’t smudge anything
- use a reference that is as large and detailed as possible (for example in this case: 2500 X 1600 pixel)
- take your time trying out brands and pencils (I prefer Faber Castell)

So, this is my promised skin tutorial. To be honest it was weird to do, because I’ve never paid much attention at how I draw. Analyzing my steps was pretty interesting.

Most of my pictures aren’t that detailed like you can see here. I just did it to have a good example for my tutorial. How many details you put into the skin depends mostly on your reference.

Please be also aware that this is just my way of doing it. It can be right for you, too, but maybe for you a different way works better.

As always, if you have any further questions feel free to ask

This is a tutorial for my picture Sam Worthington .

Fantastic tutorial! It's precise and explained very well. I've looked all over for those pencil erasers. I found one made by Faber-Castell, but the nib is just too flexible that it's kind of hard to erase with. Yours looks a bit stiffer than what I've been able to find. Yours also looks, I don't know, double-sided? Wish I could find those old Schreibmachine Radierer from the 80s.

Thank you

Hm, all my pencil erasers are from Faber Castell, so it's weird that they didn't work for you.
Yes, I've a double-sided one, but I always use the soft side.

Maybe I could send you some?

You're too generous Sis I really appreciate the offer. If you did that, is there any way that I could reimburse you for it?

Wow, very interesting tutorial. It was very cool to see insights into the way another artist tackles the "problems" of light/dark/texture/form. I'm sure it took you quite some time (and additional effort) to put this tutorial together - but it's really, really kind and giving of you as an artist to share your process.

Thank you!
