"....Was I something you wanted?"

So, the Season Three preview seemed to destroy some sort of barrier. Maizu art might flourish from me now....I had a surge of three ideas that I've decided to actually put up. The basic theme is, "It would be cool if this happened, but it probably won't."

My hopes for some stuff in the Maizu ship....

The basic subject of this one....Zuko has just had a talk with Mai about why he did everything...the usual speech..."I needed to restore my honour. My throne, my birthright....I want my father to think I'm worth something."

To which Mai replies--either mentally, softly, or directly and without thinking--with something along the lines of, "What about me? Was I one of the reasons you returned?"

Because it's interesting to note that she is NOT a factor in his choice. He never seems to think about her. No doubt he gave up on her a long time before, if they even had anything prior to his banishment. But it would just be a touching Mai line, if pulled off properly...if he heard her say it, you could imagine the look on his face.

She'd like to think that, but no....Mai is completely different.

I got to draw Mai and Zuko in their fresh Ba Sing Se garb. The stuff from the little comic of super-awkwardness. Poor Jin.

Mai's outfit looks great on her, though (in the comic, at least)....if that's a cloak, I'll fully freak out. Zuko's is cool, too.

If I knew what those things are in Mai's hair, though, I might have added those to her....as it is, though, she hasn't donned those, yet. Maybe she only wears them on dates. XD They look like flowers, though...FLOWERS...in Mai's hair....

More or less freehand, though. On the faces, anyway. That's why they look so awful. And why Zuko's a giraffe....

Ah, well, the next one will be better, hopefully. Eh, who am I kidding, the next one's going to have a dramatic look to it.

Here's hoping that these two work out more than they make out!

Maybe it will be Zutara. But....for now, the canon has swung in favor of Maizu.

EDIT: I fixed her chin and his neck. So now I'm actually happy.
EDIT TWO: I wasn't really happy. So I did some more edits. Mainly to Mai. But I also made Zuko's eyes a better size.

Now she looks like Mai. This was really, really bothering me. You have no idea.

Oh...and I <3 this outfit of Mai's. She looks so...well, she looks a lot like an elf, I guess. Which is a good thing. Arwen-ish.
