My second-to-last picture for March, but my final original image.What's this? ZUTARA? Yes, right beside Maizu.
My ideas for what their Fire Nation garb could be, if either one were to become Fire Lady. I kept them both fairly simple, and yet unique--each one's outfit is a bit of a representation (Mai's is definitely more intricate, but I really like Katara's simplicity). Note the wide collar to expose Katara's necklace.
I had a lot of fun with Mai's head attire--it's sort of a combination of Azula's Ba Sing Se outfit and Ursa's style, plus a touch of a unique crown--since no one knows where Ursa is, I'd assume that no one knows where her crown is, either, so it's up for a style change.
Bonus points to whoever can identify what two things Mai's crown is designed after!
Katara's crown is the moon--if she becomes Fire Lady, I'll be fine with it AS LONG AS HER CROWN IS MOON-SHAPED. It looks close enough to a fire crown while still retaining the Water Tribe characteristics.
Both of them smiling....Katara, I used a reference for but didn't solidly base her off of any one image. Mai was drawn from memory, freehand. Both drawn by hand in pencil, then inked over. The coloring and letters are all digitally done....
So, whether you be Zutarian or Maizu, enjoy! And if you're Zujin or Songko, sorry, they're both cute, but they aren't really strong...I'm not thinking that either one will come to be.
More bonus points if you can tell me what the background colors are!

Edit: I fixed Mai's eyes and Katara's head proportion to her body....no real clean-up, just the bits that bothered me.

Ooh, nice choice of crowns. A crown has alot to do with that persons purpose and what they'll do.
In my culture (I'm a Far East Asian! That's all I'll say *wink* *wink*) fruit which is damaged is said to bring back luck to the bearer. In this case, Mai is going to bring bad luck to the Fire Nation
Onto Katara, the Moon is really important to some Asians and it brings great fortune to the bearer. Moon Festival is based on the Full Moon and some legend about a person on the Moon who had bought a rabbit along. I don't want to say the rest, it's weird. So Katara is gonna bring awesomeness to the Fire Nation and travel to the Moon every once a year.
Okay, the predictions were a little false (Katara's one not Mai) but the thing about damaged fruit and good luck moon are real.

The legend talks about Chinese Imortalit medicine and etc. Yeah, it's real too.
Even in the Bible I've heard of bad fruit.

What would be better though is if Zuko was a dragon and Mai was a phoenix.
Although, Zuko would fit well for the description of a dragon, Mai isn't gentle, sweet, healing and caring like phoenix. At least not in my opinion, Mai, caring? She didn't even seem to care when her younger brother was missing. 
The phoenix and dragon is supposed to symbolises a strong love and greatness.
Then it gets into Asian mojo, onto Ying and Yang, balance, Buddhism and etc. etc.
Yes I'm half Chinese, then I have two quarters of two other nationalities. It's very obvious anybody could guess by now. -_-

Mai's suppressed. You're not allowed to care in the Fire Nation--it makes you easy to manipulate. She's caring underneath, but cold outside. A lot like her outfit--brown and gray and black on the outside but bright and white on the inside. Dark out, bright in.
And I push for the Mai-phoenix design in some of my recent pieces--someone needs to bring the phoenix back into a good reputation. Heaven knows that the Phoenix King ruined it for a while.
I think they're also enemies or something in certain areas--but there's the Dragon of the West and the Phoenix King with Iroh and Ozai.

Also, when Zuko left her, she could be said to have been "burned" and "reborn." She went through a time of trial, but came out purified.
Mai's gentle, too...she's tough when she needs to be, but normally, she never raises her voice. She's got a sweet side, and she's not a miracle healer, but she tries. She needed a lot of healing, herself, though.

Well, look at what happened with Ursa. She wound up murdering the Fire Lord because she was attached to Zuko. Iroh broke down and was disgraced because he was fond of Lu Ten, and wound up being branded a traitor because of the bond he forged with Zuko. If Zuko hadn't severed ties with Mai, she probably would have been used as a weapon against him. Azula pitted Mai's loyalty against her brother's life--if Mai had refused Azula and chosen to go through with the deal, how would Azula have reacted? Would she have just said "that's okay" and let Mai get away with it, or would she make Mai's life--and her family's life--a waking nightmare? She wouldn't trust Mai at all, which would mean that Mai would never get the chance to backstab her.
It's politics.
Look at Azula and Ozai and Zuko...none of 'em cares for the other that much because of how screwed up the Fire Nation family system is.

Mai is better and besides couples are cooler to look at when the girl is paler....... and also if Katara and Zuko get married (not in a million years), Katara would just like it her way, you know, move and rebuild the water nation without considering the hardships Zuko went through just to be the firelord but with mai they would rule fire nation together and strive for peace and stability with in the four nations

I think Mai would make a fine Fire Lady, personally...actually, ZUKO is the one they need leading. And Mai would be a good support for him.
Katara's going to have her hands full rebuilding the Southern Water Tribe, probably. I mean, Fire Lady Katara could certainly help out down there, but she also seems like a girl who would like to be a little more hands-on.

That's awesome, both of them. You're right, Zuko needs someone strong to keep him in line, so it's either Maiko or Zutara.
It's funny how "Fire Lady" was never actually mentioned in the show, but is used so widely in fandom.
