such a brilliant idea. the first thing that popped into my head was the idea of being born into slavery.

Yeah you're on the right train with that...

Marvelous stuff. It reminds me of Magritte, although it is also 'dirtier' and thus more realistic then the realist surreal style of Magritte, if you get my drift. I am not entirely sure about the background though, as it reduces the sight on the bars, making them bend a bit before my eyes. Perhaps a blue sky would have worked a bit better, although it may not have conveyed the message it does now.

The background isn't connected to the message of the piece and I second you idea to have sky in there instead. It's just a tough thing to get this hug cage photographed. I'll re-shoot it one day anyway.

Oh I love this. I was drawn in by the egg, because I love eggs. Hahaha. But this is incredible. At first, I thought the cage was too tall, but I kept looking at this and then realized that it is absolutely perfect. I love the danger in the egg hanging so highly above the bottom of the cage. Balance is such a fragile thing and if it falters, everything will be destroyed. Oh dang, I love cryptic messages. Especially ones involving eggs.

+impressive new direction you've taken... i see solid conceptual thinking here, plus a neatly executed piece. formal simplicity at its best and such a weight of ideas: a social commentary, a deep introspective questioning, an ironic witticism, and whatever another viewer might add. thought provoking and visually challenging. my respect, J.+

What the real indio said. I have a confession to make I hope it doesn't change things.... As I hang my head in sorrow.
Um...I've never liked eggs. I don't care for the taste :yuck:

The egg that laid the bird... then ate it for breakfast. Did I mention that I like it?

Damn, that is an awesome concept. Such a powerful piece, too. For me it creates an impression of massive unreleased potential.

Wonderful. I dig the textures a lot. I'm not sure I like the brick on the bottom...it breaks things up a bit more than it should.
All in all, it's a really great image.

Well, the bricks don't belong to the piece at all. It was just the background when I took the photograph of it.

Here seems a surreal effect/environment in this work.Egg and cage represent something beyond themselves for me.Human controll over world?Controling before they fear/take in control before they start to fear? And fear earlier than the time they should fear and take the precaution before as a result of their huge power and dominance against the lifes in the world?I see them in this good work.

Well done. The image has a good balance to it: wood, steel, stone(the wall) etc. GJ

I really like that, especially the way it's all assembled, I really love the neutral colours and the textures!
Keep it up!

I like it! Must have been fun to do an assemblage after working awhile in Collage. I wish i'd get an idea for one, i haven't made one in ages. So glad to see you keeping busy.
