swift-whippet — I need a hug

(sketch version)I'm fine now, but was feeling rather... blech. a few days ago =_=;
I guess sometimes I just need a hug and nobody's around, so I hug myself. I'm not really sure which 'me' I am in this picture. I think it's a bit of both. I was just in one of my weird emotionally-tangled moods that have no explanation or reason to occur, and in moments like that I just want to hug something because there's nothing to say. I wasn't even sure whether I want to comfort or be comforted, and again, I think it was a little of both. if all that makes any sense. (and I miss doghugs. I always went to pet and cuddle Bella when I felt like that back home - and she'd always let me, even if she didn't feel like it - but she's not here now.)
Technical details: This is my fourth attempt at this picture, and obviously my favourite. I attempted several experiments with Swift's pose, and the only thing I kept constant was her tail curled around my butt. because yeah. we're inseparable like that.
I also realised I couldn't ever draw anthro-Swift with either human me or quad-Swift. the idea of that weirds me out no end.

Whippets are much smaller than that. I take liberties with Swift though because she is an animal representation of myself, not a real dog. xD

AKC standard calls for a range of 18-21 inches at the shoulder for females, and 19-22 for males. The UK standard calls for a much shorter dog: 17.5-18.5 inches at the shoulder for females and 18.5-20 for males.

Once again, this is classic Swift simplicity in both the style and message behind it. Even though you said you had to redrew it, the finished product looks like you gave several pencil strokes, splashed some color on a labled it a masterpiece -and I adore that! And it's nice to see some emotion that's not anger or depression in a submission every once in a while(I personally can't take full doses of emo aritists) Everyone needs a hug sometime!

You poor hun. I wondered where you were a couple of days ago as I hadn't seen you on AIM. I'm glad your feeling better now, you've always seemed such a bubbly, happy sorta pup and you've been there for me when I needed a huggle. I would hope that you know that you can always call on me for a chat and a virtual-squish, thats what friends are for hunny.
The pose of Human-you is so comforting, and Swiftys face looks so needy. I love that whippy white tail clinging on to Human-you. It is such a tender piece, and sometimes its nice to feel that we are good at something, I think it helps lift the gloom a bit. So, heres a Mantra for you Swifty: "Fearakis laugh with me, Hyksis adore me I am fantastically loved".

But thats the whole point of what you've created here, "I need a hug, I need to hug" thats what it looks like. I've recently felt like that, needing a hug, just because its 1pm or just because its a Tuesday. All I know is when that feeling comes for you, its a gloomy place to be. Makes me feel really helpless.
Perhaps thats partly what it is then? Home-sick?

I miss canine and equine hugs more than is probably healthy.
Oh, and my hubby and I found a breed we both like, which is a miracle. We probably won't be able to afford one, but it's a good sign, that we found one we agree on. The Bouvier ->> [link] =]
And also, while I'm thinking about it, the first person to have the sketchbook took longer than expected, so it may or may not get to you in time for New York. I'll keep you posted, but unless the next few people are unnaturally quick, you may get moved to the end, and I'll send it to you after I get it back, so other people don't have to pay the postage. =]

^^ They are interesting, no? We met a semi-grown pup getting socialized at Petsmart, he was so calm and sweet, not overly excited, but not unhappy or rude either. He politely said hello because his owner asked him to, then turned back to lay at her feet.
I was enchanted. =] It certainly won't be any time soon, even though they make decent apartment dogs, we can't have anything that size here, and I want a backyard no matter what size dog we get. (some of the smaller dogs need a lot more room to run than the big lugs do anyway)
