Second batch of dogbreed icons up, whee yay. this time it's the ever-beloved Herding Group. ^^I put in breednames this time because people kept guessing and asking if they were right on the last one. These aren't random breed sheets and all the breeds are very easy to find by going to the AKC website and clicking on the group du jour (or for that matter by clicking the link that takes you to the icons xD). and I know I said only AKC-registered breeds, but I couldn't not put in the Laekenois. The Belgian Shepherds are like.. an inseparable quartet. or something. o.o;

To my knowledge, Pyrs are classed as a livestock guarding breed like the Maremma and Kuvasz breeds. They don't herd the flocks like collies or shepherds do. Check [link] for more info.

Why has the German sheperd a beautypoint? xDDD I saw that in some pics and I wondered.. I never saw a GSD with such a little point. It's so.. awefully cute x3
I love the little Sheltie in this pic. I once knew one and it was the cutest little dog, I have ever seen. And he had realy good manners.
And I love the puli, although I never saw one in real.

Realy? That's soooo funny and confusing! I live in german and here live preeeeetty much of them (It's the most loved dog here xD) And I never ever saw one with it. And I once sitted one with his seven sweeeeeeet little puppys. They were sooo cute x3 (But no point ΓΆ.ΓΆ) But maybe it is, because non of them has the "original" black-brown-coloring. My dog was an german LONG HAIR sheepdog. Her color was much lighter... a I'm blubbering too much ^^'

I apologize if this question has already been asked but is the "Pole" puppy a Polish Lowland Sheepdog? I had one a few years ago and they were known as "PON's" back then and I was unsure if the lingo for them had changed. If so, You have definitely captured their personality. They are smart dogs; too smart for their own good sometimes

Indeed it is! And no problem. I don't know much about that breed at all beyond how they look, but I saw one referred to as a Pole in a dog book once and I suppose when I drew this I thought that sounded best.

just fyi, I really don't like comments like this. doing all of these icons was a LOT of work in itself, so when all I get from people is "what? no ____?", you understand, it's kind of annoying.
the Lapphund is not an AKC breed (yet), and I was focusing on those. if you want to request I make one, I actually don't mind suggestions.

I meant no disrespect to you personally, just stating the facts: I dislike comments of the sort that you left. but as an artist I do like to state my preferences. and the fact is that I get a lot of people commenting on these that just go "BUT YOU DIDN'T INCLUDE _____ DOG" at me and say nothing about anything else, which after a while gets pretty wearing. sorry if you were offended in any way, I was simply trying to explain my position on why I don't like such comments, not being 'touchy'.
[link] the Lapphund is not on the list of AKC recognised breeds; it is a FSS breed however so it would still show up at some shows. for the sake of simplicity, I stuck to the AKC recognised breeds on that list -- for the most part. I did originally intend to include the FSS breeds, but I got too busy and I've moved on to other projects now. I'd still do a Lapphund icon if you wanted me to, though. I wouldn't mind doing some of these again.

I figured you'd want to know why there was no Lapphund in the picture, so I explained why. I just also said that I didn't really care for the way you presented your question. doesn't mean I'm mad at you.
"this is great, I'd love to see you draw a Lapphund sometime" sounds a lot less demanding to me, personally. forgive me for wanting some feedback on my art as opposed to a plea for what I didn't draw, but that's just my preference.

The Finnish Spitz is in the Working Group, so I drew it there. Kangal Dog is not on the list either.
