YAY. I am insanely happy with this (and I almost typed 'I am inanely happy with this'. that's an amusing mental image there xD). and no I didn't feel like thinking up a creative title either! xDDDyeeaaaahhh as you can tell I've been having fun with traditional media since I don't have my nice big wacom intuos while I'm at school, and truth be told I'm glad for the excuse. :3
*WhiskerWing did such a wonderful traditional rendering of my Hyksis, Alder and Goldenlarch, for her half of our hyksitrade that I felt like I had to live up to that somehow. so here's her half-brother-and-sister pair, Dandelion and Meadowsweet, with their namesake flowers. :3 I had so much fun doing this and it came out like ten times better than what I expected it to look like so yay. I only hope you like it, Whisker, and that I did your characters justice. I do love those two so.

Omg, they're so cute :'D I absolutely adore the right one's scruffy, fluffy neck. I seriously want to ruffle it. His grumpy face contrasts with the left's blissful, happy expression perfectly X3 And I love their ears; they look very 3 dimensional. The whole picture itself has perfect foreshortening and angles, really. The background is lovely too <3 Splendid job on this, Swifty!

well the plants Hyksis are named after always have something to do with their personalities, or so they should be. it's definitely the case with these guys, Whisker did a wonderful job of creating them.

traditional media is so much fun! I'd shied away from it because I thought I wasn't great at it either but my experiments and such turned out a LOT better than I had thought they would! so yeah, no harm in giving it a shot.

I do a lot more work with digital colouring, and I love my tablet. I used to colour with a BALL MOUSE before getting my WACOM. I have a set of 36 COPIC markers and the set of 120 Prismacolor pencils, and slowly getting better with them.

THIS is the best idea ever! I love the concept it just fits perfectly with what Hyksi are all about. The idea of their namesakes emphasising their profiles...good lord its poetry in static animation!!
I just keep looking and looking and looking again, I've said it before and I'll say it again, you have utterly NAILED Hyksi anatomy! They look so right when you draw them, its strange, like you took a peek in my brain and then drew what you saw. I hope that I can get closer to this but still retain my own style with the Hyksi. They are so annoying though, everytime I go to draw an existing character I invent a new one....

eeeeeeeeeeeeee thank you Dee it means a lot that you say things like that about it. <3 I wanted to do something a bit more abstract and different for a change. this may be one of my favourite Hyksi renderings of my own ever - from concept to execution it was just an absolute joy to work on and I am so happy with the results. and that Whisker likes it as much as she does!

You've been a great source of inspiration to me and your enthusiasm for Ryvarda has spurred me on in so many ways. The organisation that I've somehow managed to achieve is also due to your encouragement. I can only be humbled when I see how many other artists I have, in someway influenced and inspired. For me to know that I've inspired other artists, not just artists, fantastic creative souls, it just blows my mind!
I think, if you have the time you might consider doing another couple in this style to create a collection. I think they would look gorgeous!
btw if you dont want to continue I would pretty much love to do it as a tribute to this.

okay, I'm not sure which one is on the right, but that one... the fluffeh one... is AWESOME. I love the way you drew his fur, all spikeh and sort of ruffled. like he doesn't clean himself very much. xD and I love his face, owau.
the other hyksi really complements him in ... her happyfull expression, too.

LOL... he's Dandelion! *points at the flower* xD and yeah he's an angsty disgruntled adolescent boy, so I always draw him looking a bit gangly and awkwardish. his neck looks ruffled because his adult-male mane is supposed to be growing in ^^ I am glad you caught that!
Sweety is one of my favouritest Hyksis evar, no joke. I adore drawing her so.

Gorgeous! You do just as well in traditional media as you do on the tablet. And I have to say, you're definitely the model Hyksi artist, as well. I wish I had your talent for their anatomy. I've tried to draw Nipa a few times recently and was never satisfied with it!

Zomg, I love it! They look...AMAZING.
The parallellism/dichotomy just tickles me. Somewhat similar poses, but she's all 'yay, flowers!" and he's all grumpy and looking into the distance just...EEEE
The flowers were SUCH an awesome touch. I love it. Lovelovelove. Those spikey-toothed leaves for the dandelion are just PERFECT and fit exactly why they're his namesake.
Also, I adore your shading. And the slope of her nose. And...everything!

(question: is Sweety's bad leg the right or the left? because on that picture of her and Alder - and on the doodlesheets of her - I seem pretty convinced it's the left one, but on her refpage-and-story-type thing that you did for her it's her right, so I wasn't sure. it's the right one in this picture. o.o; )

Totally my fault. All my recent stuff of her has been the left leg, it's just the original that was her right leg.
