Ahah, she's really cute. ;D Moose (mooses? meese? xD) ftw~

xD; Actually, I just noticed something if you want some realism-crits.. Moose have these *really big,* freaky, comma-shaped nostrils and kind of a horsey, angular nose.. ^^ I really like the look you've got now, but.. it could make it more distinctive as a moose versus elks and things, y'know? ;D

(he's a boy. xD)

Oh yeah, totally. Thing is that Alce is a baby moose and the photos I referenced off were off young moose, maybe that has something to do with it. o.o dang I THOUGHT I got the commanostrils and angles in there, it's certainly different from how I draw my horse nostrils. anyways I don't draw hoofstock beasties very much at all, perhaps I should get more into that. thanks!

Really?? 8D;;; Omg, I'm sorry, lawl. Little kids are so androgynous, rotfl. xD;;

Hehh, no prob. ^^ ;; Ooh.. I just browsed around pictures, and the babies do look a bit different.. their noses are a lot less ridiculous-looking than the adults', rotfl. xD You know what I think it is..? Heeere: [link] xD It seems like the shape of the head is a tad off.. like, here it looks more sloping than domed. Gawd, I could never draw these guys out of my head.. they're so freaky. *0* You should see the camel I attempted the other day, rotflll~~ Hoofed animals are so different from other animals.. .0. Like, looking at the complex, ripply muscles of a horse is almost mind-boggling for me, even though some people can draw them perfectly. Fzzt. *Sparks*

I really don't think I was THAT far off the mark. I'm so sorry, I really appreciate you're trying to help, lovey, but at this point it's just like... this was a free one-time sketch request, my first time drawing a moose, I used refs and I didn't want or expect heavy crit on these things. ;.;

Horses are comparatively easy because I've been drawing them for a while and I used to ride, so I got to study them up close. I'd like to see you draw some ungulates sometime, we can be... ungulate practicing buddies?

Ahhh.. ^^ Okay, I see what you mean. Lawl, yeah.. xD;;; I'm sorry about that. Sometimes I feel like I have to critique moar.. x0x I've had intense feelings of ass-kissing lately. I didn't mean to chew on you, luv~~ ;3; *Cling*

xDDD Oh lawd.. totally~ I think that's the phrase of the day, rotfl. Ahhg, I've ridden horses a few times, but srsly.. just a few. I'd love to get the chance to be around 'em more. Ahh, well.. I guess there are enough refs and guides around to choke an ungulate. 8D Google, away! *Flies*

is okay sweets. I do appreciate the help, maybe I just have too thin a skin. x.x;

I think it might be because I'm too used to horses, even. You're right in what you say though, I don't disagree with you there. Maybe I should draw moose and caribou and etc. together on one page or something, so that I can better work out the little differences between them. YES WE SHALL IMPROVE!

xDD Ahah, nah. I've been really weird lately.. I was so draggy and not in the mood for people this morning.. Dx And I felt really bad because I was volunteering, and all these people were like "omg!! werent you sick last week? I hope youre feeling betterrr! I love youuu!!" and I was just like, "ehehhh.. eh, thanks..? *Crawls off*"

Ahahh, I want to make a camel character. xDDD They're so grumpy. He can have a moose cousin~~ And we can practice ani-mules. Huhh, I have this old how-to-draw book with like every mammal in existence in it that probably has some good tips on strange hoofed things. :B Seriously, it's amazing.. the only thing it really lacks is a good canine section. D: There was like a two-page spread of feral canines (versus like ten pages of elephants and horses and fifteen million pages of big cats), and the only real drawing of a wolf was.. terrible. o___o It was stylized instead of realistic like the rest of the book, and shaggy with this terrible snarl.. It looked like the Big Bad Wolf, something out of a Grimm's fairy tale. Dx<

thank you. I actually really enjoyed drawing Alce, most people ask me to draw dogs/canids for them so drawing a moose and a moose/kid was a nice change!

He is a moose actually. *fail* But a baby moose which is why he only has baby antlers. heee. such a great character.

thank you!

cyberwulfe In reply to swift-whippet [2008-03-14 11:47:08 +0000 UTC]

Ah... yes I do love mooses too. *hugs his moose plushie named Hayden*. I guess I thought he was a reindeer because of the colour on his face and the antlers. Moose are all brown, he sorta has a colour pattern similar to a reindeer. *would be able to comment better but is replying on the "comments" page and not on the submission itself!*

Nokkel In reply to cyberwulfe [2008-03-14 18:39:27 +0000 UTC]

Actually not all moose are straight brown. Depending onthe moose's location(country i suppose) they have white legs. n_~ just for your info

cyberwulfe In reply to Nokkel [2008-03-15 22:57:49 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I haven't actually looked at a moose picture in a while. I just know they don't have white and black on their nosies like caribou and deer do. And Swift thinks I should draw my moose plush, Hayden, as an anthro moose for practice because I haven't draw anything in about... *looks at his watch* eight months. XD

Well that is the way the creator designed him, I just drew him. xD He's only a baby too so he doesn't have the proper antlers and all.
Don't worry about it, you did comment earlier on!

I love my sketch. I may use it as my computer wallpaper, that way I can view it easily.

I love sketching, yet I sometimes feel guilty doing nothing but sketches and doodles my nice sketchbook that was originally for art class.
I find that I often come up with most of my original ideas [meaning not commissioned characters or anything] through randomly sketching pictures in the margins of my school notes. It's a great way of expression, clearing the mind, and just plain fun.

<3333 that means a lot to me Dali.

COMPLETE AND TOTAL AGREEMENT. you can really be more free when you're not fretting yourself over it being perfect, and that is why doodledrawing is something I love and will probably always love. :3 fwee.

eeee thank you so much SW! Yeah, I got sick of drawing sucky people about a year or two ago so I've really been practicing them a lot to make them presentable. and being able to draw other people's human characters is great practice for me. :3

Ohhhh my goodness Swift, these are beautiful!

I love Tobi's pose It's so precious!

Even in sketch form your art is very lively and dynamic 8D

And I love those two foxes! They look so cute

and the Saluki character looks grogeous, not to mention that adorable mouse!

And the poses on the top one are so great, I love their expressions!

Your art is so fun to look at Swift <333

'even in sketch form'? xD sketches are the most lively and dynamic that art ever gets, imo. I've always felt there is an extra spark somewhere in sketches that more often than not gets lost when something is coloured and polished. it's the reason why sketches are my favourite way to work and I also tend to like them much more than my finished art.

thank you for the compliments, Rami.

Ghulhund In reply to swift-whippet [2008-03-11 02:59:52 +0000 UTC]

xD
Personally myself, I completely agree with you! I love sketches, and I generally think my art loses a little something when it's colored ;-;
And I tend to like my sketches much better than finished pieces as well. I think it's becuase, with a sketch, there's not as much pressure as there with a colored piece. There's not as much "oh how should I do this" or "How long should I spend on this" or "Is this my usual coloring style, or did it get messier" or "will people not like this if I rush it". Sketches are generally something one can do for fun Not to say an artist shouldn't pretty up their sketches, I just think with sketches one can be a little more "free"

That makes no sense xD!!! But hey, go sketches!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

swift-whippet In reply to Ghulhund [2008-03-11 19:07:45 +0000 UTC]

It makes perfect sense and I think you're absolutely right. Not worrying about every detail frees you up more to just relax and enjoy it and go with the flow, and in that way sketches become more lively. It's hard to keep the same kind of vitality in a polished-up drawing, from my own personal experience. :3

always great to find another sketcherlover! xD
