Description
This was a request by I figured while I was at it I'd make an improved regular E1 and E1/R as well.

The E1 was a descendant of the A1, with 80 being built from 1874 to 1890 at Brighton for use on goods, shunting, and occasional secondary passenger services. They were as reliable and sturdy as one would expect from a Victorian tank engine, and like the Terriers and D1s they carried names, except rather than towns which the railway serviced these were the names of cities on the continent, such as Barcelona, Munich, and Marseilles, though these names were later removed in the early 1900s. Four were transferred to the Isle of Wight and numbered W1-4 for use on essentially the same duties until the 1960s. One example, number 89 Brest, was rebuilt with a larger boiler by Marsh in 1911 and renumbered 689, though it was later rebuilt to original E1 standard in 1930 by the Southern Railway. Speaking of that railway, Richard Maunsell rebuilt 8 E1s into 0-6-2 tank engines, classified as E1/Rs and used across the West of England for banking and other short-haul duties. Thirty survived into BR ownership, but their work was slowly taken by newer types, the Ivatt 2-6-2 tanks chief among them, with all of them being withdrawn by 1961. While the sole E1x was rebuilt in 1930 and no E1/Rs are preserved, one original engine, number (32)110 Burgundy survives on the Isle of Wight, and preparations are being made for it to be restored to running condition as one of the four E1s on the island, W2 Yarmouth.
