Description
Colton was built as a replica of LNER Garratt number 2395 in 1977 under Sir Charles Topham Hatt mainly for the sake of publicity, but also found use for him pulling heavy goods and mineral trains. He was built using whatever drawings and photographs of the original U1 that could be found, as well as the overall design being modified with a lighter axle loading, roller bearings, and improved drafting, making him as some would call it a U1/1. He works the mainline with Gordon, Henry, Maud, Reggie, and Hall.
