Here is part 1 of 2 for this edition of Engines of-. Today, we have three designs from the older (and my favorite for obvious reasons) of the Drummond brothers, Dugald. This edition is a little different, as there are three designs, one from each railway which employed him. From the top, from his first employer, the North British Railway, a Class P 4-4-0T (LNER D50), from the Caledonian Railway, his famous Royal Train Pilot, 4-2-2 number 123, and from his last employer before his death, the LSWR T9, original and the rebuild by Robert Urie. The D50s were quick to go under the LNER, with all being withdrawn in 1926 and none surviving. Number 123 is preserved in static condition in the Scottish Transport Museum in Glasgow, and one T9, number 30120, is preserved in working condition and is part of the National Railway Museum's collection.
