Description
"Don't be so rude to them, Barry." BoCo said as they left the yard after the noise from the scrap engines died down."What? It's not like I'm the first engine to leave this place, nor will I be the last." Barry said. "They're just jealous, that's all. Chances are, some of them might leave Woodham Brothers scrapyard just like I am now. I can't wait to get to this Sodor place, then I'll be able to move under my own power again! I'll get to pull coaches full of lots of happy passengers!"
"And don't forget trucks! We have plenty of them, too on Sodor."
"Yes, trucks." Barry continued. "Yes, that's it." He thought to himself. "Once I get to Sodor, I can put all of this behind me. No more thinking about him. That workman. Once I have something to do again he can't bother me anymore. I can be at peace." Barry was quiet for the rest of the journey which took them north through Cardiff, Newport, and Hereford, then back into England via Worcester before entering onto the West Coast Mainline in Birmingham. BoCo didn't mind this, but he instinctively would ask from time to time if Barry was still coupled up behind him.
"I'm still here!" Barry would say in reply. Barry's couplings were old and worn out, making them too dangerous to use while travelling on the main line, so a spare was used instead. It took the rest of the day, but BoCo made it back to Sodor with Barry in the wee hours of the morning the next day.
