Ms Jenny and some workmen positioned Kelly just such that he could lift Mike off the rails and onto Madge's flatbed, before which Mike's driver threw his fire out and he was separated from his tender. When the preliminary preparations were completed, strong cables were slung under Mike himself, and up he went onto Madge's flatbed, with his tender being loaded next to him and both were then secured with chains to stop them from rolling or sliding. Mike's driver rode in Madge's cab, and when everything was ready, Madge's driver turned the key to start her.
