I have to say you are the reason I broke into fractaling with Apophysis. I saw Death Is An Angel in a google image search and was mezmorized, after that I frantcially begin searching for ways to do things like that, and so far my best attempts pale in comparison to yours, but hopefully this tutorial will finally give me the knowledge to actually make Apophysis do what I want lol.

Sweet! That is quite a compliment! I hope you enjoy fractaling and if you have any questions, feel free to ask! You might want to check out *Apophysis for more resources if you have the time!

I love the Dropkick Murphys!! Fun band!

I've read through the guide, and I'm still in a bit of a pickle as it stands. I managed to stumble upon a very wonderful fractal, but even with photoshop I'm having trouble cleaning up all the "dust" around the main mass of the image. I tried using the blur technique you spoke of in the .pdf, but its only helped clean it up to a degree. I also tried going over it manually with the eraser, but I could be at that for weeks and still have a very rough and imperfect image. Do you have any tips and tricks to cleaning up all that fuzz of speckles? I'd like to have that clean and smooth effect that all your renders have.

I always use a combination of brushes and the smudge tool.
I do the ground work with brushes, and then neaten it all up with the smudge tool.

Sorry to butt in, but i thought it might help.

Thankyou very mcuh i recently discovered wtf fractals were, and am amazed by them but didnt know what i was doing, and got your tutoirla recommended by this guy who had a website with his fractals in a gallery on it. i'd emailed him, and asked him how he managed to make hsi look so good, he said he'd worked it out mainly by himself, but that their were alot of good tutorials around, and that yours was the best oif them he was right! thanks very mcuh. sorry for rambling on a bit, and for the bad typos at times i type to fast for my fingers.

Thanks for making this tutorial and sharing your techniques! One problem though... the script you refer to from hallucinaut.com can't be accessed since the site appears to be down :\ is there a chance you could paste it somewhere or is there somewhere else I can download it?

I think you can get it here . Just download "Patrick's Scripts 1"-- it can be found in that zip file. I had to hunt around for it, too. Heh.
I hope this helps-- and that the tutorial creator doesn't mind my posting this link.

I see where you use Photoshop for manip and recov. I was wondering if The Gimp could be used? Just a thought, though probably a dumb one.

Sya In reply to malkavian40 [2006-01-24 18:27:25 +0000 UTC]

I've never used the Gimp, but I bet any photo manipulation app that allows one to work with layers would work.

sya, plz ignore the "you are stupid" gremiln. It is not aimed at you. It is in relation to the dumb question I asked. I am sorry for this mistake I've made.

The tut is very helpful, even though I don't have PS. Thank you for the tut, and I am again sorry for the error if it offended you.

FINALLY! PRAISE GOD I FOUND YOU! A tutorial, for me, to use with this program I don't know how to use. >_> I can't imagine though.....how easy it can be. I spent HOURS screwing around in that program, no avail, nothing, but some reallly stupid dots that don't even LOOK pretty. Maybe it's the codes.
