Description
A BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS VISITED, BROUGHT IDEAS, FAVORITED AND DOWNLOADED AS WELL AS THOSE TO COME! PROJECT CRYPTID CONTINUES TO GROWArtist's Note: I get a lot of questions about adding the Mongolian Death Worm - it is already a part of the collection and has been for a long time now, right between the words in the title. I don't know if it's because people don't see, aren't looking, or just like to mess with me, so I'm putting up this note to assure any and all that the death worm is there.

The current layout for Project Cryptid
Not everything here may be real, I won't argue the point of demon bats and such, but if it's mentioned in myth and lore or anecdotes and reports I'll probably draw it.

Might I suggest adding a "relic population" sub category? I noticed that the mammoth hasn't been placed, and a few of the others you have logged could go in there, like the Thylacine and Megalania. If you're already on that, I apologize.

That makes a good bit of sense and it would give the mammoth something other than [?]; I still debate myself on whether or not I made the mammoth one simply because it was among the listed animals/creatures. Thanks for the suggestion

Well, you included two of MY sadly-overlooked favorites. *pokes Trunko and Tsuchinoko* Also a lot I've never even heard of!
As for suggestions, I don't think anyone's mentioned the Cadborosaurus yet... it's always been one of my favorites for some reason.

I can't believe I overlooked Caddy! Thanks for pointing that out there. I was interested in the Trunko case ever since I first read about it several years back. If I only had a time machine, it's one of those cases that got lost in time

You have quite the stunning array here but I know of a few little known cryptids that you might be interested in. Also, you should check out Obi Wan's UFO-free Paranormal page (if you haven't already) for some really strange and unique cryptid stories.

Well so has the colossal squid The point is to include the confirmed animals as well to showcase some "victories" in cryptozoology.
That and the coelacanth one was an order and I'm just such an egotistical stiff

This porject is awesome and must have taken ages to even get this far! You have included so many animals already!
But a Thylacine isn't a Cryptid, it's just an extinct animal like a Dodo. They are from Tasmania.

Oh jeez, it's been a few years going now . Thylacines are only considered cryptids because people still claim to witness living specimens, though a fresh body has never been produced to date. The same could be said for that mammoth there, too

ok there are actually 2 kinds of Yowie
The first is the TRUE yowie, which has a lizard’s head, and ant’s body with 6 legs, a lizard or snakes tail and glowing red eyes. It emerges from underground at night to eat ANYTHING it can find including people
The second (homonid) is actually based on an aboriginal myth about a hairy, man eating giant, known as burrun burrun depending on region, and tribal group.
When settlers first arrived in Australian the natives warned them about a Yowie, most of them assumed the referred to the man eating hairy giant. This initial confusion is what lead people to believe the Yowie was a hairy hominid like big-foot.

Not to sound weird, but I found a strange photo of a "thunder bird" once, i was really young and it was a remake by some old wacko guy, but years later, I saw the same image on a show called "Wild West Tech" in a folklore edition, and it looked like a big pterodon. just wanted to say that if its any help.

A lot of people really like the Death Worm
More on Giglioli's Whale
Reported in September of 1867 of the coast of Chile by the Italian zoologist Enrico Hillyer Giglioli while aboard the Magenta, this unidentified whale had two dorsal fins, something that no known whale displays. Further from Wikipedia:
Another report of a two finned whale of roughly the same size was recorded from the ship Lily off the coast of Scotland the following year. In 1983 between Corsica and the French mainland, French zoologist Jacques Maigret sighted a similar looking creature.
Possibly all reports of the same individual, the animal has never been properly identified as a new species or genetic defect due to a lack of further reports and the case is still open to speculation.

Very nice, and it's good to find a plausible, giant sized unknown beast out there. Thank you very much for the feedback. And for the Death Worm, I find it interesting that it inhabits the cold deserts of Mongolia, something that goes against the idea of a large worm-based animal. I want to say misplaced alien animal, but the theories stating it to be a snake would be more realistic.
