Description
I started this tutorial a couple of months ago when i lost my animation program. I got about half way through and gave up, but i decided to finally finish it. i hope it will give people an idea of how i animate my emotes using 2 separate programs.I hope one or two people find this interesting. I'm aiming to now go on and show some of the special effects i've developed, but as i had already started this one i thought i would do this first
You can find all of my other tutorials on this page: [link]

What would you do if you had an animated emote, perfectly fine, but you need to add to it? I use Iaza for animation... And That only allows 50 frames... Already got there...

sadly i'm not familiar with the program so all i could suggest is transferring the frames into a different program from this list [link]

Does this work with paint and a free gif animator?

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure. I would presume so as a few emoticonists i know use a free animator and paint however i've never personally tired it. Best thing to do is just give it a go and see

I found a program and I do everything the tutorial says, but when I go to put the png's together, the pictures just merge in the animator. How do I make a new frame?

Which program are you using as your animator?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Synfull In reply to icydevil0 [2009-01-11 17:35:52 +0000 UTC]
When inserting the frame, theres 2 options at the bottom. One is insert on the current frame, and one is on a new frame. Make sre you select the 2nd option and it will work

Do you know of any programs similar to paintshop pro that are free?

Synfull In reply to icydevil0 [2009-01-11 17:32:59 +0000 UTC]
My only suggestion is GIMP. I'm not sure how similar it is, but i know it is free and has all the necessary tools to draw an emote in

This is entertaining, and educational! I am glad to know others use two programs to animate emotes. I thought I was the only one who didn't have Adobe and stuff.

Me either. Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 and Jacs Animation Shop 3 for me!

Synfull In reply to SparklyDest [2009-01-09 17:29:02 +0000 UTC]
I used to use jasc animation shop, but never found how to save the emotes with a transparent background. So when i started making emotes seriously i got ulead gif animator. Thats why all my original avatars have black backgrounds.
I would use PSP X2 but i've got so used to X that i don't want to change as i would have to set up all my preferences again.

SparklyDest In reply to Synfull [2009-01-09 17:34:43 +0000 UTC]
You know, I think mine just always saved as transparent. It didn't ask me and I didn't know any better at first.
And I liked X, but couldn't pass up the chance to play with X2 after I saw a friend playing with it. It's my fav now.
But I haven't worked with it enough to get all my preferences reset yet. I still have X if I need it.

Do you use the animation wizard? I'm just curious cos i went through the trouble of sorting out the transparent bg, but as soon as i saved it as a .gif it would turn the bg white
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SparklyDest In reply to Synfull [2009-01-09 17:57:21 +0000 UTC]
I have tried to use the wizard, but every time I do, it destroys my animation. If I used any pixels that had opacity to them, it hated it. I have had to redo waaay too many of my many-framed emotes because of that. So, no. No animation wizard for me

was it version 3? Maybe the older ones didn't support transparency....

Ah, I see, you use an actual animation program. That explains the fact you can use transparency..
