Been working on this on and off, in between owed work (a few minutes every now and then), which is the reason this has been a work in progress for half a year (give take a few weeks)

Sorry for not cropping out the white edges, the canvas is pretty wonky and shrunk in many places. Dx

Closeups (please take a look, this photo is a little blurry/dark/colors incorrect in places! <3)

My first non-school full watercolor painting, the only materials used was pencil for preliminary sketch and watercolors.
Also one of my first colored bird of prey, very fun to do! I will definitely be doing more of these guys! The background did not turn out so well, because the relentless Hong Kong humidity kept melting the salt again .. and again .. and again even when it was dried! :c Even though the end result is not as well painted as I would like (and I made far too many mistakes!), I am proud of the finished piece because I learned so much from this.

Scanning was absolutely terrible, tried to take a photo and adjust in PS CS3 to make it look as close to the original as possible. The eagle should be a lot more purple and the background more green... and a lot of other little things! Dx Bleurgh, this is the reason why I'm reluctant to submit anything I do traditionally.

Sadly I didn't have the time to finish the other more ambitious piece for #YoungArtistsContest , ah well! I will post it when I do finish C:

Very loose referencing for the first sketch (from many many photos to get the head shape/feather crest right!). Inspired by a Bateleur eagle crest shape (One of my favorite birds of prey!)
