The furr and horn piece holds on the face piece. Those are white mopstrings, I'd rather repurpose than trash something. The head piece can be seen here...[link] [link]

Do you have more pictures of this I realy love the concept and I am looking into making traditional regalia then I seen this in my inbox and I would love to get a better look on how it would go on your head and how you sewed the patches of fur together. I understand that the face broke and thats rather unfortunate it looks like you put a lot of work into this. Are those bead strings on the side? I have seen may styles of regalia but I dont ever remeber any thing like this.

For your next try you might wanna try a mixture between glue and cloth, instead of glue and paper. It becomes really strong and rugged. Also, you can model the shape in clay, make a copy with plaster and fill it out with the glue-cloth-mixture (2-4 layers). After drying (needs about 4-7 days) it is a really tough thing. Ancient romans made their armory this way!

That's a fantastic idea! Can you use the water and flour glue trick in this?

Don't know, have heared of that but I'm not sure whether I would use edibles for masks ^^' And glue's not that expensive, you also can strech it with a little water (not 1:1 though, 2 parts glue, 1 water worked best for me).

Thank you. When I next try I will do that. Maybe a bit of stage canvas, a few good sized, well placed pieces.

Neat. The tabby fur and the polished hornes are not mine, but the head and the idea is really really pretty and fits into something quite equal I wanted to do for a long time

I know. Too bad it broke. I tried it twice since, using different clays. But no joy. I'm switching to paper mache, taxidermy foam, and/or plaster. As soon as I have a viable version, I will indeed post it, and take orders.

WolvenTaxidermy In reply to Tabbicatt [2010-10-10 16:02:08 +0000 UTC]

aww! that sucks >.< That would be truly amazing. taking into account the horns and fur depending on what kind and the workmanship (witch looks amazing) Taxidermy foam or plaster sounds better than paper mache. I'd buy one depending on how much it would cost.

Tabbicatt In reply to WolvenTaxidermy [2010-10-11 00:03:15 +0000 UTC]

Only the face broke. For just the face I'm guessing...$45. For the full headdress I'd have to go with..maybe $80. There is a picture of the horn piece in my gallery, you should take a look.

WolvenTaxidermy In reply to Tabbicatt [2010-10-11 05:02:01 +0000 UTC]

thats not too bad. Ive seen those for a lot more cash than that. I believe one was about the same size and made from (probably ) the same materials for almost 400+ dollars.

Tabbicatt In reply to WolvenTaxidermy [2010-10-11 11:42:39 +0000 UTC]

I only charge for materials and shipping costs. I like doing this stuff, and I don't like to charge for having fun.

WolvenTaxidermy In reply to Tabbicatt [2010-10-11 15:03:32 +0000 UTC]

thats awesome lol You don't find many people who only charge for materials. I'd definitely pay for one, i just need to get some spare money first.

Tabbicatt In reply to WolvenTaxidermy [2010-10-12 00:10:05 +0000 UTC]

Well if you let me know what kind of headdress you want. I could start hunting for supplies, and I could get you an estimate, as to how much it will cost. It would give you an idea of how much money to get together.

WolvenTaxidermy In reply to Tabbicatt [2010-10-12 20:36:36 +0000 UTC]

Alright, well everyone calls me "Wolf" around here, so something like that would be sweet. In the same general style as the cougar kin mask, especially if you could put the same kind of horns and horse hair preferably white or black ( i believe that to have been horse hair on the cougar kin mask) the rest of it i don't mind, what ever is the most easy, to find and whatever colors.

Tabbicatt In reply to WolvenTaxidermy [2010-10-12 21:53:10 +0000 UTC]

60$ for the face, 30-60$ for the horns, 30$ for the fur, and 20$ for other misc supplies. That's 170$ all together and that doesn't include the shipping. I also haven't perfected the technique yet. I wouldn't want to take on a commission till I was confident the mask would hold.

WolvenTaxidermy In reply to Tabbicatt [2010-10-12 22:47:08 +0000 UTC]

Take as LONG as you'd need to perfect it, because i definitely dont have that much off hand just yet. lol. But i will definitely want one. and eventually earn the money to have you make one for me lol.

I would love to, but the clay was so cheap that it cracked. The next day it totally shatterd. If I try again I'll use plaster and papermache.
