If you did that with a camel bone, just imagine what you could do with a giraffe bone... If it's even legal to have those.

You pay for the supplies and shipping, and I'll make you a short sword. That's how I usually arrange it.

I look at the bone and with a charcoal pencil, decide the best way to cut the blade from the bone. Then Ii do so with an osilating saw. Next I use a belt sander to finish the edes and and the 'blade edge' as best I can. It is near imposible to get a blade, flat, when carving it from a leg bone. But you can get fairly close.

So that's how you carve the bone, right? How do you attach it to the handle?

I simply tie it tight with faux sinue or twine.

Thank you. A bone axe is currently in the works.

It will be made of horse and pronghorn bones and be 15 inches overall when finished.

Could you explain me how to make one for myself ???

The handle is leg bone, cut a pair of rectangle notches into one end, after removing the knuckle. The notches will hold the blade in place.

The blade is tkaen from a larger leg bone. cut out the longest near flat section, then sand it down into the blade shape. At the hilt end of the blade put three notches on either side, these will secure the wrappings that will hold the blade to the handle. Also don't forget to allow for a tang. The part of the blade that sits inside the handle.

Gaher whatever wrapping material you like and strap the blade to the handle. The better you wrap it the bestter it will hold. Don't be surprised if you end up wrapping it more that once.

That's how it works, in a nutshell. If you'd like one made for you. Just ask, I trade quite often work my works. I'm sure something can be worked out. If you try it on your own, I will you luck.

F.Y.I. If you wanted a set of your own, I'm afraid I'd have to charge money, and it would be 120$ just for supplies and shipping.
