Commission for "Arui"
A possible portfolio piece.I am a bit flushed at the moment so the description my lack sense.
I was asked to create a memorial of sorts and decided to really put my best into it. As I have said before, people who commission me to draw different breeds usually get the best of my talents
I know a few people who draw Shelties frequently and I wanted to test myself to see if I could run with them. I did breed research, studied my anatomy books and this is what popped on paper! The style overall is more of an exaggeration(cartoony) than I aimed for but it is typical Type for a pet herding dog. The lines were extremely exhausting to hand ink considering the coat detail, and even more challenging to color (in order to achieve some-what believable texture 
)I wanted to keep the focus on the lassie(pun
,It's a female sheltie, I know Lassie was a collie) so that is why my background is so...bleh.And I have to be truthful: The orginal image for the commissioner has erect ears

Shelties are gorgeous dogs, and my neighbors have one. She's adorable and I love her. I think you portrayed the Sheltie wonderfully. I don't think this piece required a detailed background, all the focus is on Miss Sheltie. The fur looks stunning by the way. c:

Oh yay! A Shetland! I just got a Sheltie pup :] He's 6 months now. They're the best dogs! Well he's the best dog I've ever had, haha.

Ok, Collies and Shelties alike are beyond my favorite of the dog breeds. And when I saw this in my deviant WATCh and saw you did it , I got overwhelmed with excited! And this straight up brought tears to my eyes as it is, beyond gorgeous. Toa point of jaw dropping amazement. Its wonder and you really did your best on this one. I am in love with it, and its just...wow..gorgeous work dear..gorgeous.

I know I keep saying this, but your skill is just getting greater and greater. This has to be one of your best pieces so far.
The depth of the colour, the shading, the conformation, the expression and the mixture of realism and cartoon - just breathtaking.
This is SERIOUSLY good. I expect the person who commissioned it is absolutely delighted!

The fur looks amazing, and the lines turned out great. I particually (sp?) like the sahding on the face. And it's great to know when you get commissioned for diffrent breeds your not familiar with you really put some effort into making it perfect. 83

I love the shinies! I've always loved how you shiny-up your fur, it makes it so unique and pretty!
If you don't mind me asking; how do you shade? Not your technique, but do you take a brush on low opacity and make the shading strokes through the fur, or do you just use LOTS of colors?

Moreso colors. I don't mess around too much with opacity numbers because it tends to make the strokes uneven. I simply added layers of color and smudged them to form the hair

Whoaa. Well I can't recall a time when I would have anything but praise for the stuff you do, but this is seriously something else.
The colouring is best described perhaps as seamless - the beautiful pearly chest fur and then the way the shades of colour merge into each other, it's absolutely amazing! You can so tell when you put extra effort into things *poke* you take everything up about 10 gears and wipe the floor with it! xD
Most people would kill to have effort = AWESOMENESS! Well, maybe not kill, that's a little drastic.. but certainly chew their own arm off
Hehe. Anyway, this is really special. And I must admit, I like your more cartoony ones just as much as your realism - your style and colouring lend themselves equally to the both x)

I know that this probably would be to much to ask and i kno your busy alot but I was wandering if you could make me a mamorial of my passed away dog bud you see he was a very old yellow labrador retriever and he died from old age. today was sapposed to be his b-day and he was a big part of the family and i wanted it for my sis as a presant because she was the closest to him and she was there when he died. b4 he died my sis baught a big bone and tons of chocolate so he would die happily and I am crying just typing this so please it doesnt have to be perfect but i would do anything to have your talent put into it and make him swimming if you do do this for me because in the summer would love that and i hope you have a big enough heart to just please do this for me. please reply this as soon as possible. :3

Commissioning brings in money for a lot of the exspenses.
The biggest hassel is taking an hour or two to get everyone situated for brekafast
