Well...I asked if it might be okay to draw a kissing szene...
And now see what's happend, a kissing-szene!
No, serious. I had this spinning in my mind for quite a long time, but was never sure how to draw it right. I imagened that, if this would happen, Shadow would really start to flare up with desire. I wanted something with passion, making you practially feel the 'fire' spreading between the two of them.
I thought about Shadows feelings for Maria from different angles and it seems that he might acting this way, at least to me.
Well, now it's up to your opinons.

yeah, ok, he said this, but how would he'd meant this? Sometimes you just don't like to show what you really feel for another person, (especially if you around people you're not sure if you can trust them or not) no matter if it's the same race or not and sometimes you show it (I know it's not the best example, but take Sonic and Elise).
Besides, I never said I support only this version of how Shadow feels for Maria, I did it this way, because it gives you way more opinions in a creative way if you can experiment a bit in even extreme directions.
Don't get me wrong, I accept how you see the things and am very gratefull about your opinion (not many have longer conversations with me about my art lately, sad as it is...

Well... getting in too deep means a situation when you lose control about your mind in a positive sense and let things happen like they are suppose to happen.

I honestly think that is the sweetest couple out there. I don't really view them as a romantic couple, mostly just like best friends/brother-sister type, but I guess somewhere they share more than that. Seeing how Shadow's feelings come out for Maria... (he actually cried... AND smiled thinking of her

If you made a picture or a fan fic it could be like Mephiles spirit wants to take over shadows body but shadows to strong for mephiles so if maria got hurt shadow would get so angry he'd go like dark sonic and mephiles could take over shadow
