Well...I asked if it might be okay to draw a kissing szene...
And now see what's happend, a kissing-szene!
No, serious. I had this spinning in my mind for quite a long time, but was never sure how to draw it right. I imagened that, if this would happen, Shadow would really start to flare up with desire. I wanted something with passion, making you practially feel the 'fire' spreading between the two of them.
I thought about Shadows feelings for Maria from different angles and it seems that he might acting this way, at least to me.
Well, now it's up to your opinons.

Shadow had been created for three purposes.
1. The first and most important one was that Prof. Gerald wanted to find a cure for Maria's decease, NIDS. Shadow is restistent against almost all viruses, so in this genes lays the key for Maria's cure.
2. Shadow has also been created to defend the ARK from Black Doom and his Black Arms (see the game Shadow the hedgehog). Gerald made a deal with Black Doom and got a sample of the aliens blood, so he could "finish" Shadow's creation and giving him his strong physical abilities as well as the power or Chaos. But the Professor also knew about the aliens plans to take over his home planet and prepared a plan to fight them. Shadow was the key to this plan.
3. Well and the third reason is that Shadow was created to prove that ulitmate life (life with a very, very long lifespan) can be created. A scientific proof if you want so. (I just say "Biolizard" from Sonic Adventure)
Shadow became a friend of Maria while he lived abort the ARK and perhaps he was also created to be a friend of Maria (not only to cure her) because she lost her parents. Fact is, Shadow is definately NOT a pet. I guess there you missunderstood something...

that's true. But at least there is the nice thing of fanfiction ^^ as you might noticed I let Maria survive and grow up in my story, so there can be a reunion between them
