Description

“Vincent!”

Veruka shouted as she arrived at the scene. It was a chaotic scene. Movement and noise all around her. Adventurers and raiders duking it out. At any other time Veruka would join her fellow guild mates and fight alongside of them but right now the out most importance for her was to find her partner.

“Vincent!”

She cried out once more. *Thump* The chimchar got nudged by other pokemon from all sides. Her senses were overwhelming thanks to other pokemon and their attacks. Then she spotted something green. Green and huge.

“Ezekial!”

Veruka called for the flygon and ran to him.

“Ezekial! Have you seen…!”

“I think you’re looking for him.”

Ezikial replied calmly and lifted one of his huge wings. Under there was the familiar riolu. It looked like he had gone through rough fights but despite all that; a confident smirk was on his face.

“Alright! Let’s show them what we got!”

Vincent shouted but then he noticed Veruka.

“Veruka! You came here!”

Vincent chirped and ran to hug his chimchar partner. Veruka’s cheeks burned red. She had not expected this.

“I’ll leave you two alone…”

Ezekial said without other remarks and flew where the biggest brawl was. Vincent let go of Veruka and looked her right into her eyes.

“I’m so happy you decided to come and help us out!” Vincent started. “Let’s go! There are still a few raiders who need to learn a lesson not to mess with the adventurers!” Vincent tried to drag his friend to fight.

“Ah… Vincent. I… I found this and I… A couple of raiders had it and I had to fight them and…”

Veruka stopped her and showed him the purple scarf.

“AH! You found it!” Vincent’s eyes shined even more brightly and he grabbed the scarf.

“Man! I thought it was gone for good!”

The riolu smiled widely and put the scarf around his neck.

“Thanks Veruka.”

“Don’t mention it… I’m just happy to see you’re okay.”

Veruka smiled bashfully. Before Vincent could add anything to this, a loud screech caught their attention.

“Adventurers! Show them what you got!”

Ezekial’s shouted with a convincing and enthusiastic voice. A smile showed up on Vincent’s face again.

“Well… Wanna show them what you got Veruka?” He asked a bit teasingly.

“I…”

“Hey! You fought those raiders to get my scarf back and bring it back to me. Don’t say you’re gonna stop here!”

Veruka looked at Vincent. This puppy clearly trusted and believed in her. The chimchar looked down, collected her thoughts for a second and a smile came to her face.

“Let’s do this!”

She smirked and her fire blazed even stronger. Vincent fist pumped the air and the duo turned right where the fight was. Veruka took a deep breath. She wasn’t sure if she still had the total control of her move but she knew if something went wrong, Vincent would be there to help her. They gave each other’s confident looks and nodded in unison.

And with silent mark, they both jumped into the fight. Sharp purple claws extended fromVeruka’s fingers and she used her shadow claw move to scare raiders and hit those who had dared to come too close. Meanwhile Vincent was using his dig move to put out any fire that had spread close to the battle.

Veruka withdrew her claws and saw a group of raiders running past her trying to break in. She had to stop them!

Veruka turned her body heat up and again her body was engulfed by flames and she spun in air. It was a perfect flame wheel and she managed to slam into those unlucky raiders. The impact was strong enough scaring them away. Veruka smiled and felt proud as she had been able to control her move perfectly.

“Awesome Veruka! Let me try!”

Vincent shouted and jumped in air. His sensors glowed in red aura and suddenly the riolu was surrounded by flames too. Unfortunately, it was not as easy as he had thought and the riolu spun into a giant mushroom, splitting it and the mushroom hit in the head.

“Vincent! What are you doing?!”

Veruka shouted. Why did he have to try to copy her move? The chimchar ran to her partner. She was afraid the riolu had hurt himself again. To her relief, she could hear a faint laugh.

“Okay… I admit. It’s not that easy…”

Vincent smirked weakly while Veruka could only let out a sigh.

“Vincent… you can’t always rely on copying others.” Veruka started and helped her partner up. “You gotta use your own strength.”

Vincent went silent and for once, he avoided the eye contact with his partner. He was about to say something but he was interrupted by sudden cheering.

“Good work adventurers! The raiders are retreating. Don’t let your guard down though. Keep your eyes on the wagons!”

Ezekial roared and flew up, most likely to do a survey round. Vincent’s gaze followed him first and then they went back to Veruka. He took Veruka’s hands in his owns.

“Looks like I tried to bite more than I can chew there and failed a bit in the end…” He flustered and blushed.

“And… That mareep managed to surprise me… So… Thanks for coming here after all and helping me.”

“I… You’re welcome…” Veruka’s eyes shined and she felt her cheeks turning red again. She took her hands back when she realized this and tried to hide this. Thankfully the riolu was too ecstatic to notice his friend’s bashful act. Riolu’s attention was totally caught by the cheering crowd.

“Great job fellow adventures! Remember to keep that spirit high!”

Vincent shouted and managed to convince a couple pokemon to do the victory sign with him. Veruka followed all this from the side lines and smiled gently. Her smile faded away soon though and the chimchar looked past the cheering adventurers, where the raiders had run. She took a deep breath. They had been lucky this time. But what about the next?

“Hey! Don’t be there all alone Veruka!”

Vincent interrupted her thought and she saw her friend in the middle of other adventurers. The puppy was gesturing her to join them. Who could say no to those puppy eyes? Veruka let her doubts go, even for this moment and she joined her friend.

“Keep that spirit high!” They both shouted!

And done! Victory Spirit's mission0 is done! It was a bit close call but they both survived and lessons were learned. But what about the next time?
