Little late posting this badass commission from the very talented .Having never done a piece from this period, I had a hell of a fun time researching the kind of clothes these dames would not be wearing, haha.
On the left, in the yellow sash we have a prissy but adventurous young lady of lesser nobility. On the right, in the green sash we have a lager-swilling Welsh peasant lass. Who will take the prize? Fine-tuned precision or brute force?
It's anyone's guess.

Female boxing by those past years are brutal; girls trading bafefist punches bruising one to eachother in a fight without time limits almost to dead, for a cash prize. The pic shows very well the true facts. Congratulations, and please, more; if not a complete story at least some 3 or 4 isolated illustrations about different moments of the fight. I've thought about it. And before I did this pic I dug up all the info I could on the boxing of the period, even tried to make the background characters' clothing appropriate for the mid-1860's! This is definitely high on my list of ideas to revive.

"Badass" is the perfect descriptor for this commission; the vintage vibe pulses through this entire piece very well, down to the shadowed spectators.
These two have already give one another a night to remember. Ms. Welsh does look hungrier for the win, but that could potentially make her reckless too. I'm going with precision here, but its any woman's game!

Much as I love the... Welsh grit of the underdog, I think I'm in the Miss's corner for this one.

Looks like the shadowy patrons were treated to some tantalizing class warfare. Green seems to want it more so I believe I am giving my nod to brute force if I am not mistaken. 1863 looks like it was a fine year for watchin a good fight.
