Nah, this is an art trade between Khal941 and I. One of of the first of many. Nothing sneaky or devious happening here.
Aside from the guideline provided by the mesh, and some of my sketches and notes for detail ideas that he referenced, this is all Khal's work.
This is actually quite common in graphic production for video game and movie concept art and pre-production. It doesn't make the art any less valuable, or the remove the effort and skill required.

I agree, if anything, creating a mesh like that and then painting over it is MORE work than the painting alone IMHO.
That process "video" you just linked to makes this even more impressive in my eyes.

oh no no no, I really should've phrased that better! I was trying to say something nice, really. This started off as a generic "Looks cool" comment, which I as a rule, try to turn into something more constructive - what about it looks good? Perspective? Shading? Coloring? In this case, yes, yes, and yes, but then I thought, hmmm, I just came here from Daemoria's gallery and I didn't remember this ship shown from this angle, and being able to draw complex machines from different angles is also an impressive skill. Hopefully it makes more sense put this way?
