Description In the events of Viral Interception, RANGSI single-handedly lost several thousands of mobile suits in the fight to stop the armies of Mirdif from reaching Corona, all in a single engagement. This loss, coupled with the pressures of the 3rd Ancerious War, prompted a drastic simplification of the current GENEVA series.

A new vision was rushed onto the drawing board. At its core was a simple skeletal frame - a base model from which everything else could be mounted via the numerous hardpoints located all over its body. Parts could be easily replaced and swapped to such an extent that pilots could even perform field repairs by salvaging parts from fellow mechs. The synthetic nano-muscle fibers was ditched to keep costs low and they returned to old-school hydraulics. This resulted in some loss of responsiveness and agility, but the trade off was deemed acceptable for a cheaper, more reliable, and a highly-customizable mech. To reflect this new approach, the resulting product was thus given the name of VAMAS - the Versatile All-Mission Assault Suit.

Naturally the first of this new series would be the 'Striker II' configuration; a general-purpose 'soldier' unit capable of undertaking almost any and all missions in the field. As a mass produced standard-issue model, Striker II parts are simple and at times quite relatively unsophisticated, designed to do a decent job and to be easily replaced if damaged. A break from the first Strikers which have their own fusion reactor, Striker IIs are instead powered by batteries with RTGs for emergency power, in order to keep costs even lower. Striker IIs either return to base to recharge or are beamed power from mobile sources sent forward by the mothership.

Otherwise, the Striker II is mostly identical to its predecessor in terms of weapons and equipment. It can use the same gas-dynamic laser rifles, plasma sabers, as well as any other alternative weaponry that have been developed for the Striker Is. It even has an additional laser pistol as a sidearm for emergency or close-quarters situations. The Striker II's standard pack has been massively streamlined not only to keep costs low but also to reduce its profile for close quarter environments like space colonies and low-G lunar cities. It can however still use older Orbital Gliders if they are available especially as a means to deploy into the battlefield.
