Description
The massive IRS juggernaut of tanks, armored vehicles, artillery units and more are nothing if not tirelessly maintained by its dedicated corps of Combat Engineers. Formed from Riflemen who show aptitude and interest in the mechanical side of things, these men and women are responsible for maintaining, repairing and in some cases make ad hoc improvements to vehicles under their charge to better adapt to the battlefield. In addition to vehicles, they are also tasked with the assembly and construction of base buildings, fortifications and base defences and emplacements to boster the IRS's defensive positions and hold on territory that they've gained. While usually kept as a reserve unit following behind a main force in order to build improvements, they can still hold their ground when sent into the frontlines to repair friendly vehicles and clear obstacles like mines or enemy barricades. They are usually armed with a close quarters weapon such as shotguns, carbines and submachineguns and are equipped with a variety of tools to repair or construct things such as standard wrenches, blowtorches, spades and nanite dispensers. A noticeable feature of the Combat Engineers is their faceplate which protects them from being blinded by their own blowtorches as well as from stray shrapnel. A servo-pack is also mounted on their backs which is used to greatly assist them in their work in acting as a second pair of limbs.
