Description
The Mobile Expeditionary Projection Infantry (MEPI), also known by their more common name, the 'Marines', is an intergalactic rapid-response force designed for combat in zero-gravity environments, ship boarding and eliminating threats within and beyond the IRS's borders witth utmost haste. They are also primarily responsible for the security of far flung colonies, distant outposts and escorting research teams in their expeditions to foreign and potentially hostile places.

IRS Marines are primarily equipped for zero-gravity combat first and foremost. They are equipped with full body vacuum suits, thruster packs and state of the art full face airtight helmets that come with advanced HUD and scanning capabilities, far more capable than the ones issued to the Regular Army. Bullpup 5.56mm railrifles are their preferred choice of weapon, since standard conventional gunpowder small arms do not work properly in space. Magnetic breaching grenades also come as a standard in the Marines' arsenal to burn through enemy bulkheads and create points of entry.

Marines can also be deployed groundside as shock troops via drop pods or dropships, either to take on the enemy by themselves or work in concert with the Regular Army and other branches in a major combined arms operation. Their railrifles can do a great deal of damage to the enemy but with the dirt and weather conditions, maintenance would be demanding, expensive and difficult. The organisation of Marine squads mostly mirror that of the Regular Army, with each squad equipped with a wide variety of weapons ranging from assault rifles to LMGs and rocket launchers.
