Fall 2004, Oil Pastel on Sketch PaperOil pastels float in limbo somewhere between drawing and painting. I think the way I use them leans closer to painting, even if you "draw" with them, so I stuck this tutorial under that heading. There's no right or wrong way to use oil pastels, but the methods I've come up with on my own are fast, forgiving, and I like the results. I'll do another tutorial sometime about painting water, and how to make textures, etc.

Oh yeah, I looked back at that link you showed me, and I think he just used regular dry pastels.

hey thanks. i've just started trying to experiment with pastels. my general media of choice have been pens and ink or a camera and there has been little/no depth in my pastel/color attempts (in my gallery). these tips will help.
