Description
A semi original weapon I made for my imperial world. The Tkachenov Grenade Launcher belongs to the Astra Militarum regiments of Kray Mira and it's Planetary Defense Force.
It is a simple and robust 40mm pump-action grenade launcher designed to fire all standard "caseless" grenades, available for general issue underbarrel launchers. Though relatively heavy and bulky, it can provide considerable firepower, with a six-shot capacity rotating-drum and a practical rate of fire as high as 30 rounds per minute, and can be useful in ambushes and other fast-paced close combat situations. Since it uses "caseless" rounds fired from a rifled barrel, its cylinder is loaded from the back via a break-open mechanism similar to that of a revolver. The sights can folded for more convenient carry and storage, with a ladder-type rear sight. Its stock is fitted with a standard recoil pad, and when it is not in use, it can be folded over the frame of the weapon. The Tkachenov was required to increase the firepower of the infantry during urban combat seen in small-scale conflicts.
As it is the case for most projectile weapons designed on Kray Mira, it can fire a large variety of ammunition types, such as incendiary rounds, explosive micro-shrapnel, bolt rounds, ripper darts, solid slugs, stun shells and non-lethal signal flares.
Though Kray Mira did not normally build or use this type of weapon, the formation of the Cicatrix Maledictum forced the planet to improve and expand its defensive capabilities in order to survive. Due to their loyalty and numerous contributions to the Indomitus Crusade, all of Kray Mira's subtle tech heresies were overlooked/allowed to continue by the Adeptus Mechanicus.
As with my previous post, it's kinda inspired on the Soviet Union and modern day Russia, though this one in particular is based on the american Penn Arms Pump Multi-Launcher P540-1. Hope you like it!
