Bid for Shackleton begins here:
In was too soon, as far as Cal was concerned. Tabby had hardly been out of the hospital for two weeks, and not fit to be travelling and riding in the Jamaican woman's opinion. The red head was however, as usual, stubborn, opinionated and determined to do things her own way. So she had flown down to Tasmania, taking the weekend to get out of the main house's stuffy guest room. She'd been talking to someone, as she had promised, and the advice he'd been giving had her itching to do something productive than dusting the ceiling fan for the fifth time.
The last few months had seen DREC downsize drastically, moving out horses that didn't suit their plans, weren't performing up to standard, or were otherwise taking up much needed stall space, and so when Tabbitha had seen the ad for the big grey through the Australian Warmblood Association she didn't hesitate to go check out the promising young stallion to see if he could be a better fit.
She'd read and reread his profile. Beautiful gaits, some potential in free jumping, but a calm demeanor and lazy attitude. Still, he had potential. His demeanor would make him an easy stallion to travel with to events. With the right motivation and training, he could make a good cross country horse or jumper, but more than that, if he failed over the poles and obstacles, his smooth gaits and easy going personality could earn him a place among her endurance horses. He was big, but well built and lean; if his stamina was good, then he could easily handle the courses Tabby liked to tackle. It would all come down to how he felt under saddle. He was still young and not worked much yet. Not to mention, she surely wasn't the only interested buyer. She'd have to make a good impression.
The flight went smoothly and driving down the Tasmanian roads made a fond nostalgia grow in her chest. She had enjoyed her months working at KhanCohban and always enjoyed visiting the island. A pang of guilt pulled at her heart that she hadn't informed Cavan she'd be down, but everything that had happened was still too fresh and she wasn't sure how well she could hold it together if he happened to ask any questions about her compression sleeves or the dark circles under her eyes. Another visit, another day.
As the rental car rolled up the drive of Breckworth Stud, Tabby's mind went into business mode. She parked and was greeted by the property owner, a friendly older gentleman with a broad smile and kind eyes. They walked and talked, Tabby explaining her career and experience as they toured the stable block. They discussed her intentions for the young stallion, including endurance, and her concerns over his mellow personality while the stable groom led the grey into the courtyard. He had a lovely build and lordy was he tall. The redhead nodded her approval and requested to give him a try under saddle. The owner agreed and after not too long, the young stud had been tacked, warmed up and handed off to the experienced rider. It didn't take her long in the saddle to feel the colt's need for some drive, but he was as smooth and supple as they had promised. With some focus on motivation, she felt he could easily match her other young stud, Admiral, in performance. She only wished she had someone with her to catch anything she might have missed, but the idea of Hugo's usual accompaniment was a thing of the past.
Dismounting and handing the grey over to the groom, she let the owner know of her interest in the stud. Feeling he'd make a worthwhile addition to her lot, it seemed worth the risk to take a shot at his temperament for the potential he possessed. Arranging for a vet check to look over any potential physical issues, she agreed to return the next day for a final decision. Shaking the gentleman's hand and thanking him for his time, Tabby departed the stud feeling confident in the meeting. Now it all came down the vet check and her impression on the owner.

This is beautiful.
I love the soft and serene lighting/atmosphere that you've created.
Something Tabby could probably use - after catching up on all the RP's.
Wishing you, and her, loads of luck in the bidding <3
