Description
Like OMG, actual ART!Yeah, tho it's still MLP related, and story related, amusingly enough. I've had in my mind some goings ons involving my two gryphon characters from the story, and decided months ago I wanted to draw them. Unfortunately it took me forever to get things worked out in a way that even remotely satisfied me...
That said, I present Filigree, the hard a__ed gryphoness from the team in my story. This isn't exactly the version from "New Breed", since she looks to my eyes a touch younger and less "abused" and "damaged" than that version. I will reconcile WHY I drew her that way sometime later, for now... just enjoy.

Lessons Learned: Ye Goddess was Filigree tough to get onto paper. The way I described her did NOT translate well to drawing, with that slicked back crest often making her look like either a cockatiel or a gangster.... I also need to practice, a LOT, on the bodies. >.<

Always love your expression sheets. You do short beaks well too.

Thanks! And here I was going to try and see how well you'd manage a gryphon (Since we KNOW you do Ponies well) on your livestream... of course, that never happened.

Admittedly, it woulda been for selfish reasons. Seeing someone else's take on the head design would have helped me in the long run, especially since we get to see some of your pre-structure work as well (IE: design lines and such)...
Anyway, glad you liked 'em! I am surprised everyone seemed to like Filigree better tho, she was MUCH harder to do, and far less dynamic, than Verdi...

Looks better than some of your older bird character designs.

Practice practice practice.... Plus the shorter beak and new "input" helps.

Let me be the first to say, this looks really inspired by the character Gilda from Friendship is Magic. XD

Given that it's an MLP based gryphon character, and Gilda is the ONLY female gryphon we've seen from the show, that's pretty much a certainty with ANY female gryphon characters. In fact, early sketches to try and get the feel for the MLP style of gryphon literally had me reversing Gilda's "hair" so it went backwards, just so I could get the feel for how the shapes would work out.

Very nice sketch work. I rather really like Filigree.
Nice range of expression here. Even if she isn't exactly how she would be from the story, her head and eyes feel distinctive and simple enough to recognize her immediately. Very nice!

Thanks! And yeah, I always envisioned Filigree as a deadly bullet of a gryphon. She has feelings and emotions, but she keeps herself calm and collected... and always deadly. I guess that does make her more visually distinctive, as compared to Verdi (who is fluffier and "cuter")...

Huh, well I think the cockatiel-gangster look works well for her.
So those looks there, we've got angry, shocked, sceptical and...

Well this was as close to getting that "fixed" as possible. And I actually tried for a slightly concerned look there on the far left...
