Description Another pic trying to knock the rust off. Not as good as I'd like it to have been, but the basic elements I like. This is based on an idea a friend and I hashed out for an as-of-yet unnamed superheroine with a penchant for getting into trouble. I tried to capture a Golden Age heroine feel to it, borrowing elements from "Shazam" for the tunic-like outfit and going as far as I could to make it look very soft and feminine. It's not perfect, but I like the way the outfit's elements come together, from the (very) short skirt and how loose it is, to the waistband, to the flowing feel of the long hair to cape to fluttery clothing. Tho we know why she flys so much now... considering THOSE heels...

Very nice concept, I can see her now, in a split image comic cover, under the words "And Introducing...."

Also, the style used here reminds me of Grigbertz a lot, in the curves and mouth / eyes. Very nice

That is a very flattering comparison, thank you. I love Grigbertz stuff.

I think you got a nice superheroine design going here. Though from what I've seen...Mary Marvel had a little bit longer skirt....guess this heroine's outfit has been updated for a more modern audience

Well Mary Marvel and Shazam himself were the inspirations. The rest was from my twisted imaginings.

Well..she may be a little more sexed up compared to the older heroines...but she still has that girl-next-door vib going for her.

Aye, a little more. I tried to keep it subtle however to keep that "vibe" intact....

I'd like to suggest a name.
From the logo on her costume I'm thinking of the name of Linkin Parks last album, "Meteora".
Or maybe "Metorite"?
Or something with a good "C" word in front of "Comet"? Calamity, Cardinal, Caped, Cobalt, Cosmic, etc.
Just some ideas.

TCPolecat7 In reply to Havek-san [2009-03-23 23:57:38 +0000 UTC]

Well the person I discussed the idea with came up with a few based on the comet theme, including the name "Comet-Terry", but for the most part we chose to stick with a more classic name for the theme.

While considered, we were looking for something more traditional sounding for a name.

Tradition is for gimps! Moar comedic portmanteau names.

TCPolecat7 In reply to SuichiTanaka [2009-03-26 20:15:53 +0000 UTC]

Well she IS supposed to be a take on a Golden Age hero, so a golden age name type is appropriate. Tho she almost was "Comet-Terry"

And has the "feel" of those old Golden Age (and sexist) comic heroines.

Now she needs matching ankle shackles.... And wrist cuffs.... and all that other delightfully heavy gear superheroines have the unique privilege to be bound in.

I think her shins may be a trifle short.

Oh, very cute! Great design, and defiantly has that "Golden Age" feel (even if you found it hard to capture). And there is a certain "Shazam/Mary Marvel" vibe to it, but it's different enough that you don't look at it and think, "Oh, she's a Mary Marvel clone..." I especially love the sash/belt, and can't wait to see her "get into trouble" as you put it!

TCPolecat7 In reply to Evil-Doppelganger [2009-03-23 21:14:29 +0000 UTC]

Well a good bit was inspired by Shazam and Mary Marvel, as I mentioned in previous posts, but I tweaked the outfit to make it as soft and feminine as I could, then added the gloves and boots and the like. I'm actually happy with the outfit, even tho the rest of the picture was a little rough, but I'm glad so many people are "feeling" the vibe I was trying to catch with this pic.

Very cool. As you mentioned, very Golden Age/Mary Marvel in design.

TCPolecat7 In reply to BullittBlank [2009-03-23 19:36:53 +0000 UTC]

You are correct. Tho I admit I borrowed a bit more from Capt. Marvel/Shazam himself, the basic dress was initially inspired from Mary Marvel. Glad I managed to keep the basic feel.

I can see the Shazam influence, as well. In any case, the design is excellent; as I already mentioned, it looks very Golden Age.

(Dumb question, I know, but someone was *ahem* bound to ask sooner or later. )

Yeah it's something you do notice even as someone who's not terribly familiar with comics.

Each era does have a feel that's reflected in the drawing style. But you nail the feeling wonderfully ^^
