Description Another late post but I wanted to wait for my roomie to get home before posting.

Xandiel examining his dad's old hunting knife.

I really should draw him more considering he is my favorite of my characters.

Day 4. Done!

His hands are really nice! but my favorite part is definitely his expression.

Aww, thank you, babe!

I'm pretty happy with it, all things considered. Xandiel's supposed to be a rather expressive character but in a subdued way (for the most part) and that's not always easy to achieve. So I'm happy it actually turned out how I planned. That doesn't happen very often.

I completely understand. I typically have an expression in mind but when I draw it, to me it doesn't come out as clear. But without even telling others what the expression is supposed to be they will understand... it's odd.

YES HE NEEDS TO BE DRAWN MORE, I reeeeally like him.

GREAT!work on those hands. Do you use reference when you draw them? Something about your shading overall in this piece is reminding me of *fongmingyun 's work.

Thank you! I'm really glad you like him. I think this past year I've been drawing my roommate's characters more to make sure I get them right but I really should start paying some attention to my babies.

And I don't generally reference hands (which is why they usually look like crap! XD) But I did with his right one since it was a bit tricky. Actually, not that you really need any help with hands and I'm sure you've probably already been to this website, but posemaniacs [link] is a great one for studying poses and I really like they're hands section when I'm not feeling too lazy.

Ooh, and ~mondigan 's shading... Man, I'd love to be able to shade that well. Actually shading is one of the new things I'm trying to incorporate into my works because I LOVE texture but it's still a pretty new thing to me. I was more of a strictly "line art" girl back in the day. I take that my work reminds you of hers as a big compliment.

You know what other people are VERY good with shading, are ~venatorfend and ~hannah-dora . They remind me a lot of *fongmingyun AND what you're doing with the shading here.

For me, the urge to shade comes and goes with the specific drawings, you know? Lately I've been doing most of my "shading" digitally, but every now and again something just demands it in pencil.

Yes! Thank you for the recommendations! Being a decently fledgling shader, it's nice seeing other people's take on it and you know a ton of good artists. (And I just realized I used the name of one of *fongmingyun 's art works instead of her actual DA name. But I meant her. )

Haha. I was wondering. I do like photography but typically not that type. Ooh. I really like her stuff. Especially the way she colors...

YESSS, I love her stuff. The other person I'd actually never seen before. Curse those hyphens or lack thereof... XD

Yess That's okay, I figured it out. OH! Also, I just thought of someone else you might like: ~janeyjane is great too.
