I tried my hand on making atutorial. xD and i thought since i was in the process of making a fursuit i might as well make a tutorial out of it. xPThis is my first one, so im sure its bad, but i tried.
Tell me if this was anyhelp. i really hope it is. xD

Thanks for this! I'm planning on being an animal-something for Halloween, and there's no way in hell I can afford a fursuit. (Okay, I've wanted to do this for a long time, but Halloween is just an excuse to do it without freaking out my mother or getting her ranting about school.)

XD I agree about parents, I just told my mom today I was planning on making one *kinda hard to hid a bunch of things lying around a room and NOT have questions asked* and to be honest she looked at me with disgust after asking why, easy answer that I COULD tell her (not like I can say...I am a furry) and said "cuz it looks kool and will stop me from playing video games 24/7 and improve skills"....I think she enjoyed that answer

What type/thickness of foam did you use? I've been trying to make a fursuit head, I made one and it doesn't look very good. I've seen people use a white foam but I don't know what it is. Any help for a new furry? x3

I really dont recommend buying from a store... they carry only cheap shag fur that is thin and falls apart. It looks awful.

Hmm this helped alot. but scince im a beginner fursuiter im scared to start my head. where is the best place to start on the head? and is there anyway you can make homemade follow me eyes for the suit, without spending like 10$ on purchasing them offline?

yes there is actually, just find a plastic white bowl that you arent using, draw the pattern out and cut them. scissors may not be the best option for cutting thoiugh...
the best place to start on the head/ well i do the foaming part first, usually starting with the muzzle and such. but you can start anywhere really. x)

yeah i started with the muzzle on mine first too. it has one pointy ear and one floppy so hes pretty adorable. i used ductape foam and plastic wire to make his frame. grrr im scaredto start furring because im using the glue gun method. oh boy... haha question though how the crap can you see out of the eyes? lol!

Why duct tape? to be honest that wont hold the foam together very well and it will fall apart. Or did you tape around the wire frame then glue the foam to that? (i have never used wire so im guessing you taped it) Forgive me if im wrong there. ^^'
Dont just glue the fur down, i HIGHLY reccomend sewing it! It will make it look sooo much better!
To see out of the eyes you would cut a hole into, lets say the plastic bowl for example, then glue black buckram or cheesecloth to the back so it covers up the hole but you can see out of it, while other people cant.

I used ductape and some painting tape. but i taped the wires and i taped over the foam with he paint tape so that when i fur it and mess up its easy to fix. and i have a way that i have learned when using the glue gun that makes it look like invisable stitching. its quite cool =] and ill have to try that out with the cheese cloth for my eyes =] thanks alot =]

Now what are you looking to make? If it is just a head you will want to make the foam form of it that goes under te fur... there is really no right or wrong way to start as far as this all is, except with the foam really, as i said a few lines before. x)

Well, I really want to make a head, arms and handpaws, a tail, and feetpaws. I was just wondering where I should start. Here is the fursuit I will be making, minus the hair [link] I might add the arm accessories or I might not. It all depends.

Okay well yeah i would just start with foaming the head. (my personal pref is to start with the head and then work down the body) so you could try it that way.
