Description Hard Nabresina limestone, about 3 feet high. Reconstruction of the Belvedere torso.

Another close up of his head and hair. I tried to get a windswept and chaotic effect without losing the ornamental design of classical Greek sculpted hair.

Miserable old sod isn't he?

It must feel quite intimate making these pieces - imagine working very close and then glancing up to see a whole person looking back at you!

Hehe, he probably looks bigger in the photo than he actually is - if he stood up I reckon he'd be about four feet tall. Although it was weird carving him in such a tiny space, with no-one else around as a frame of reference I did get the impression that he was almost lifesize. It wasn't till I got him out in an open space and saw people next to him that I realised what a tiny man he was!
