It's not that hard to understand. It's just everything is in relation to something. And they are kind of fixed in where they are attached - which makes it a bit easier. 
You can apply this to all characters, not just male.

Not really, it's just there's so much more variety. Hair can be long, short, strait, curly, they can wear dresses, skirts, pants... the list goes on and on. ^^ Boys are okay to draw, but they're just not as interesting, and that's why I don't draw them as often.
