i will thanks...
good luck with the contest... very interesting...
I ve always had a love of photographic textures, as u have if I can assume by your nickname.
I did my photo thesis on double exposures (it was film back then) shooting shilouets and then textures over them to result in images that had texture in the dark areas.
It was so much fun cause u did not know how it will come out in the end!
Got some trees with brick texture, and buildings with cloudy texture etc...
so much fun...
I actually have a huge collection of texture photos that i shot cause they are pleasing to me (never use them)
I wish u could give me your opinion on what to submit as my 3rd contest entry...
thank you though

very nice job! Some textures seem a bit heavy..so I would lower the opacity on some

This is a really cool tutorial. I think I'm going to have to buy a digital camera just so i can make some of my own.

I just made this: [link] using your tutorial. Can't say I followed your instructions exactly, and my camera's pretty crappy, but not bad for a first try, eh?

'Usable', not 'usabel'. Great tutorial. It'll take me about an hour to work out how to get the same basic effect in Photo Express, though.... *sigh*

whoops! looks like i went a little too fast! haha.
What is photo Express??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JessamynVampyreDream In reply to textureific [2006-07-06 17:47:00 +0000 UTC]

Photo Express is the program that I use where normal people use photoshop. And most people assume I have photoshop, and judge the quality of my work by that, which gets pretty old, cause they get rude about it (*Growls*). Anyway, it's not nearly as helpful as Photoshop. Which I hope to get for my birthday, maybe. It's pretty cool, thoug (P E, I mean)- if you want an idea of what it does, check my gallery for photomanipulations. I think my stuff is among the best you can get with P E (She said modestly).

You can also try GIMP--it's completely free and supports as many layers as you want plus a bunch of other nifty stuff--also multi-platform if you are using a Mac or Linux, but here's the Windows version: [link] and the online user manual: [link] .

hmmm...you cant relayer? or lower opacity? or even erase layers??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JessamynVampyreDream In reply to textureific [2006-07-06 22:11:27 +0000 UTC]

You can put stuff in two layers (But no more, and those are iffy), you can change the transparency (even make 'If lighter', 'if darker', 'hue * saturation', 'hue only', and 'always'), but the only way to erase layers is to make one color transparent, and then you get these ugly edges....
It's pretty annoying. Still, I manage alright- [link] - you're the only person who's ever expressed an interest, so I admit I find it interesting to talk about my little pity party program.
BTW, I almost forgot to mention that I *love* your stuff. Lotsa cool textures that my computer space can't really afford, yet I can't resist tryin to use them.
