Description
Yey, a bi-product of boredom and having Sherlock Holmes playing in the background.A simple experimental ducted-fan-powered delta-canard aircraft loosely based on the Avro Vulcan, MiG-25, and Saab JAS 39 Gripen.
I'm pretty sure having Sherlock Holmes playing in the background influenced my thought process.
I wrote some simple mission profiles in the top right corner. Most revolve around efficiency and altitude performance.
Don't have a name for it though. Hold on... Sherlock was on. Hey, maybe I'll call it the Sherlock jet. After all, it'll be used for figuring out stuff, and it has a ducted fan, and Sherlock uses the power of deduction.
Eh, if you've got a name suggestion, or perhaps your own design modification, go right ahead. I can't stop you.

Maybe you could replace the powerplant with a crude bipropellant rocket, using an "oxygen bar", a volatile aerosol for fuel, a small spark igniter, and a ceramic nozzle, though despite its simplicity that still sounds a little far-fetched.

Eh... nah. If I wanted a rocket-assisted takeoff, I'll just take some generic model rocket motors and tape them to the underside of both wings.
Even then though, it'll carry a few model rockets and airlaunch those.

Yeah. Kinda like Lockheed using mini-missiles to test wing shapes for the F-104.

Looks interesting. I like the design of the plane. Makes it look somewhat futuristic.

You do realize that the machine is based on pre-existing equipment, right? It's not meant to be super-future rule-of-cool "oh it's so awesome". Rather, it's supposed to be coldly practical, which is why things like a canopy were omitted from the design.
And... it's not military... at all. It's primarily research and experimentation. (I'm having metaphorical flashbacks to the time when somebody put my original work with a bunch of Star Wars. And that really bugged me, and it still does even now.

Sorry for not immediately realizing it. Still looks great though.

Hmm... Thanks. In the near future, I might actually build a few versions of it for testing out different things.

I think "Sherlock" is an adequate name, especially if we can make an acronym out of it.
Stabile-Heavy-effect-Rapid-LOCalization-Kill vehicle, or SHeRLocK for short (or something to that effect)

Yeah. Probably no kill though, it is more science-y.

well, it can be adjusted if we can find something else that fits.

That'll require some thinking before something good comes up.

yeah. Luckily, it doesn't have to be good. Nothing in particular comes to mind, but of the systems developed for the swedish military, it seems like the majority was named more to have a cool-sounding acronyme than to accurately describe how it works/ what it does.

Yeah. Well, anything is gonna be better than "H.A.W.X."
I'd definitely prefer something that describes function over sounding cool like "S.A.B.R.E." (superfluous. Aerial. Battletron. REsearch.)

Hmm... y'know, I'll think about a proper acronym over the next few days, instead of trying to make it fit into Sherlock or Sabre.

well, that´s probably the most reasonable. Why don´t you work at the department responsible for naming stuff?
