SaibaimenBorn: AGE 718 (created)
Race: Saibaimen
Home: Planet Plant (created)
Occupation: Pocket Plant Warriors
Goals: Fight, fight, fight, fight!
Forms:
Drone, Grunt, Elite, Prophet, Brute, King
Bio:
During Kuriza’s rule of the organization, development of the Saibaiman project continues. In AGE 769, the “Elite” generation of the creatures are completed. These Saibaimen are far superior to the previous versions. Their size and power were increased yet again, but this time around so was their intellect, making them capable of advanced strategies in combat. Their natural lifespan remains unchanged at a measly 6 months.
As the scientists continue to tweak the creatures, a conflict in opinions arises. They split in two teams, each focusing on developing the traits they deem important for the next upgrade. In AGE 776, the two teams' results are shown off with the completion of the "Brute" and "Prophet" class Saibaimen. The Brute class have had their intelligence lowered in comparison to all previous generations of Saibaimen, but have had both their power and durability increased drastically. However, the increase in muscle mass and decrease in intelligence has caused them to suffer a loss of speed and reaction time. Meanwhile, the Prophet class have had their physical abilities decreased in exchange for a drastic increase in their mental abilities. They are used as commanders in battle and tend to stick near their planter so they can telepathically relay orders to other Saibaimen classes across great distances, allowing changes in battle strategies on the fly. Both of their natural lifespans have been limited to 2 months.
In AGE 779, Gichamu’s curiosity gets the better of him. After Freeza is resurrected on Earth, the scientist secretly obtains a sample of the tyrant’s DNA before he’s placed into a rejuvenation chamber. He integrates parts of the obtained genetic information into the project with the dream of creating the world's most powerful Saibaiman...and he succeeded. The resulting “King” class is extremely unstable. They have incredibly short lifespans of just a week and are almost feral in nature. Its extreme aggression causes it to attack indiscriminately, rendering it useless for missions. Gichamu deems this development path a failure and plans to scrap it entirely. However, word of its existence makes its way up to newly healed Freeza. The tyrant decides he needs to train to defeat the Super Saiyans, and these new creatures will make effective partners for him, and his organization’s elites.
Saibaimen sets are issued to all Planet Shark squads in the event low-level support is needed quickly, such as when a job takes a surprisingly difficult turn. Included in the set are a dozen Drone seeds, a dozen Grunt seeds, six Elite seeds, six Brute seeds, and two Prophet seeds, along with a vial of special growth-fluid. The seeds are simply buried in the ground and sprinkled with a small amount of the fluid. After a short wait, the Saibaimen sprout from the ground fully grown. Drones, Grunts, and Elites have a special trait that causes their power to fluctuate, within a certain range, based on the nutritional state of the soil they are planted in. As specialty types designed to fulfill specific roles in battle, the Brutes and Prophets abandon that “feature”.
Notes:
The Saibaimen designs are taken from a little bit of everywhere. The original manga, Dragon Ball Online, Dragon Ball Z Sagas, Dragon Ball Fusions, various other games for the pallets, etc. As with the previous sheet, I decided to embrace the absurd for the original Saibaiman designs and include basically every color variation I could, right down to Cocoaman and the Saibai Rangers. So I changed my previous "color = Battle Power range" lore for the Saibaimen that I had. As explained above, nutrient level accounts for strength, while chemical composition of the soil accounts for the colors themselves. There would likely be some correlation crossover with that, but I'm not about to sit down and make a list of what elements result in what colors and if said elements are beneficial for plant growth. lol
The Saibaiking's original color scheme was bad. It's just bad. The only reason it looks okay in the game itself is because Fusions is full of lots of bad designs with bad colors. So after trying to honor the original colors for my version, I ultimately decided to abandon them in favor of using colors taken from Freeza since this version of the character uses the Emperor of Evil's DNA.

The Saibaimen versions from DB Online that served as the inspiration for the Drones and Elites had the black crotch. So I just decided to give the Grunts the same color to match.
The better question is why I didn’t give the Brutes a black crotch when all the others have one. Unfortunately I can’t answer that for my 2012 self...

If I remember correctly, I've seen a Budokai Tenkaichi edit of the Saibabrute somewhere before on DA. Is that kind of Saibamen have the power level of like a dozen Raditzes? Just curious.

The-Devils-Corpse In reply to kibasennin [2015-03-24 20:03:50 +0000 UTC]
Nah. I honestly like my system better. "Saibaimen" means "cultivated men", or beings that are grown. That more than covers all the different varieties to me, and the various names most people are now aware of from Xenoverse either mean the exact same thing to the point that there is no reason for a change (Jenkomen are from "jinko" which means artificial), or the names don't make any sense (like Copyman). Those weren't Xenoverse originals anyway. They had already appeared in previous games years ago, like Super Saiya Densetsu on the Super Famicon, and I had already been "ignoring" them.

Regarding their age, do they age in traditional sense? Slowly become weaker over time and and then die or does their power level remain the same? Can they increase their power levels through training (if training would be possible)?
Also, do the later classes have sense of self, or any ideals of rebellion towards their planters and masters? Since "Prophet" class is obviously created to be smart, strategic thinker, I can imagine one to become self-aware and/or have feelings of some sort, even in it's short lifespan.

As stated, they all are created with a specific lifespan coded into their genetic designs. It's not an exact science though, just a general implemented trait of "your body should start to deteriorate after X amount of time". As with every production, their are factory flaws and, as with every organic life form, there are variables you just can't account for. So even if a class is created to live for a month, some may live for 30 days, others for 25 or 37. As for how their power functions, the scientists used the Saiyans as a reference. Saibaimen retain their complete power right up until they start to reach that expiration period. It will vary for each specific specimen, but about 3-5 days before they're about to expire, their body begins to deteriorate and their power with it. They could probably train, but with their limited lifespans, they wouldn't make and significant gain to make it a worthy endeavor.
In general? Not really. They're pre-programmed with soldier-type mindset for the convenience of the planter when growing them. They have a basic sense of self preservation to prevent loss of troops for their forces, but they won't hesitate to detonate if they are ordered to. The Prophet class could be the exception, but with their limited lifespan, it really puts a damper on things. Most Saibaimen aren't living a full life anyway. They're used for a brief period on the battlefield, but since they can't be returned to seed form to use for later and aren't really worth dragging back to base once the mission is completed, most soldiers just exterminate any survivors once they've outlived their usefulness. Some of the less jerky ones may just leave them to live out the rest of their life on whatever planet they are on, but they don't really have anyone to rebel against or anything in that case.

No Saiabaimen are capable of sensing ki in the traditional sense. Prophets can't tell how strong a fighter is (meaning they can't sense size), but they can sense locations. Which is useful for their point of their existence as Saibamen commanders.

Really only using them for the Tsufruians during the war with the Saiyans and then Freeza's forces. So I don't really have any intention of evolving the tech for use elsewhere, by other characters or anything.

Are the tidbits from somewhere? Um... Shouldn't the prophets be faster or anything xP? Why abandon that feature though? It was cool... Also, HOW much stronger? Depends on the gravity too? Eh, Nappa size'd've been good too... Prolly due to character models though, eh?

The bits about some Saibaimen being developed in AGE 737, strength depending on some conditions, and the sets having the special fluid and stuff are from the series and guidebooks. All the other stuff is just things I'm making up to flesh them out.
The Prophets are still pretty strong, very smart and have the ability to basically control the other Saibaimen. I think that's enough perks for their class. Especially the last one.
The varying strength wasn't an intended feature. It was just something that happened when they were first designed, and scientists weren't able to figure out how to change it. That's why, in addition to the other changes, the Brute and Prophet classes were dedicated to changing it, as it's nice to know what power the creatures will be at if you have to grow them. Needing strong reinforcements and ending up with the weaker ones due to bad soil would be unfortunate.
Soil and atmosphere are the only conditions that determine the strength of the Saiabiman. Poor conditions result in a bit of a weaker specimen, while good conditions will give you a stronger one. For a Grunt class, the spread would probably be like 800 - 1,000 - 1,200.
I just didn't really want to draw him so big, but also because I wanted his size to fit better with the other Saibaimen. A Nappa sized one would have been HUGE.

Ah, ok, awesome ^^!
Control or order? Those are 2 different things... Well, couldn't they explore that possibility?
So... We got good conditions? Woohoo! (Couldn't it be the opposite though? i.e. The weaker those factors are, the stronger the creature has to be to survive. Or sth along those lines. Affecting biology or whatever. Flaming/forzen soil/atmosphere, ah...)
Yaaaaay! Awesome.
(You actually kinda made me like Saibiamen(?) xD. Kudos.

Prophets don't need to be super strong, they aren't meant to be in the heat of battle. They are just supposed to stay close by and send orders that the others follow absolutely, even if it's to kill themselves. Close enough to control, even if it isn't technically.
They are Saibaimen; Plant Men. They need the good conditions for the nutrition, so they can grow properly. Just like most plants.
Flaming conditions will kill them, frozen conditions will slow their growth.
Thanks.

Nappa's knowledge of the technique comes from the Budokai Tenkaichi games.
I can't and won't write around every Saiyan having to show off their Ozaru forms though. In order to have good writing, you can't retread the same idea a dozen times in close succession. So you won't see any of the villain Saiyans other than Vegeta use it during the Saiyan Arc.

No, there isn't. I was thinking he used the Power Ball to transform in that game, but it seems he doesn't. Oh well. I'm going to keep him as knowing the technique anyway. He's an elite that's close to Vegeta's family, it'd be weird if he didn't know it.
Nappa was fighting pretty evenly with Goku once he calmed down. By the time Nappa should have thought about using the technique, Goku had already paralyzed him.
