Today was the day - it had been such smooth sailing until this point. Bennett held the mare while Sam swung her leg over, exhaling. She stood, ears flicking gently, unworried. Bennett lead her forward a few steps, and she stepped out fairly easily. No held breath or tension through her back. A few more laps, and Sam scratched the mare over her withers.
"There's no fireworks if you do the preparation right." Ben spoke upward towards Sam. The young bay mare was stretching her head downwards, relaxedly strolling alongside Ben. "She knows how to do this leading part, how about I step away and you keep her moving?"
