Also, you are wrong, wrong, wrongy-wrong. The second Doctor once pushed a Dalek down the stairs. Ace used to take a baseball bat to them. Daleks are totally beatable.

A Dalek can kill billions of ponies.
Ponies can't win.

Not that man. She can kick a dalek but it's armour is very strong. It could just shoot her with it's ray gun (or whatever it is). And then Applejack dies...

'There's a problem with the Daleks,' said Steven Moffat, producer of 'Doctor Who', which marks its 50th anniversary this week. 'They have been defeated by the Doctor about 400 times. Surely they should just see the Tardis approaching, say, "Oh. It's him," and trudge away.' Here, thanks to Cavan Scott and Mark Wright, are just a few of their weaknesses...
1. Stick mud in the Dalek's eye and push it over a cape to insulate it from its power supply. First and best method.
2. Dig a hole in the desert, cover it with an old cardigan, get a Dalek to chase you and hope it falls in.
3. Leave a cooling duct open. If you're lucky, a burst of ice will engulf passing Daleks at just the right moment.
4. Blast it with a directional ultrasonic beam of rock'n'roll.
5. Push it into a mirrored corridor. It will be exterminated by its own ricocheting death ray.
6. Topple it out of a third-story warehouse door.
7. If you are Davros, modify the Movellan virus to eradicate your own creations. But make sure you are not susceptible to the plague yourself. Whoops.
8. Get it to make a mistake. Some Daleks are so self-critical that they'll overreact and self-destruct.
9. Get it to absorb human DNA. It will question its own existence and exterminate itself.
10. Stare into the heart of the Tardis, giving you the power to delete the Daleks from history. The downside is you start to die. Upside is the Doctor kisses you, absorbs the power and regenerates.

Since he's deactivated, I'll tell you. Technology is real, but not on Doctor's level. We don't have time travel, spacecrafts, deathrays, etc. Also, It's higly debatable if tech would win. Depends on two things. Writer, since he actually makes the story, and context. An child Harry Potter(weak magic) wouldn't be able to defeat a tank(strong tech), but Doctor Strange(strong magic) would be able to beat... pretty much anything technological, given there isn't some sort of supressor beam, specifically set to negate magic.

We DO have spacecraft and generally tanks (well those made by humans currently) aren't that strong of tech even then a magical attack in the RIGHT place can defeat a tank, you do make a fair point though.

Stuntpony In reply to battlecruiser006 [2018-03-23 09:54:22 +0000 UTC]
Well, I meant interstellar spacecraft. We can launch manned ones on orbit, and to the Moon, but we cannot travel between Solar systems. Doctor Who has interstellar travel specifically. Also, weak magic wouldn't be able to defeat a tank. Not a modern or old one. Harry potter would need to know a spell, have a wand, have an ABILITY to cast it, and time to cast it. But tank armour would literally tank anything short of a really powerfull explosion, and there are only few weak points.

Hence why I said in the right place IE tracks, engine, or running gear for mobility kill, significantly damage or destroy the weapon systems, or substantially reduce it's ability to accurately deliver it's weapons for firepower kill, or damage all of said systems enough without destroying the tank for mission kill, it actually depends on the old tank something like the Renault FT or it's foreign license built copies would easily be taken out due it's paper thin armor (8-22 mm), that's why clarification is needed, and there more weak points to a tank than the few you are probably thinking of such as mentioned systems, that's why clarification is needed.

Well, those weak even by our standarts tanks would probably not be tasked with taking any sort of threat out. I mean, when you're faced with paranormal(magic), do you use regular army? No you develop or use anything that is strong enought to at least have a fighting chance. Also, there is being weak, as in, you cannot even damage the tracks. It's just not strong enough... Think of it as punching. There are things that are lethal to human body, bud they might be WAY below the power, needed to even scratch a tank in ANY place.
You punch a man in liver, he suffers a lot of pain, with enough hits you can kill him. With your fists alone.
No amount of applying sledge hammer to a tank in those seconds or minutes until tank runs you over or actual infatry arrives and puts you down will score you a win over the tank.
Same can be said about magic. You can be a good scholar of combat magic, but when you face a golem, you're still toast.

Actually YOU CAN damage tracks, a person CAN defeat someone or something stronger than them (such as a golem) IF they fight smart and aim for the weak spots, or use it's strengths against it, you don't even need to damage the tank to mission kill it by using the oldest thing to do using an obstacle: IE anti tank ditch or go REALLY old school use the terrain to disable a tank, also even a small explosion in the right place can disable a tank.

Was talking not about tacticts. You need prep time to make a ditch, like several days. I was talking head to head, magic vs tech. A person cannot PUNCH a metal golem out, despite seeing weak spots. Explosion in the right place still needs to be somewhat powerfull, to punch through the weakest spot, etc...
An easy win for a wizard if they just go really close to the tank, and lob a ricochet stun/kill spell inside a window. But that is NOT dealing with a tank, that's dealing with crew. If a spell cannot punch throught a rifled wall of a... Don't know the name for those. Small containers with windows and furniture, to house constuction workers. If a spell cannot go through an unarmoured metal wall, no amount of lobbing it at weak spots of a tank will disable it.
Yes, you can damage tracks, but if only you have enough power to damage the joints, or put enough power on a track to rip off the joints. My whole argument is about power balance. Level 1 unit can do NOTHING against a level 100, or something like that. Take level 50. Still, the difference is just too much.

Tanks DO NOT have windows, again you can also use the terrain to stop a tank, or have the explosion FOCUSED on a target which is how a shaped charge/HEAT round and similarly HESH round works (which the latter is an example of using a foes strength against it) so a weak explosion can and WILL damage heavily armored target so damage WILL be done not even if it's weak, someone with magic can make said ditch very quickly and lower tier unit CAN a high tier unit when used WISELY.

Not windows per se, but slits for tank driver, for commander(or one who does the aiming). Your talking "backstabs", and other TACTICS, which MIGHT or might NOT work. Do you even remember how this conversation started? Someone said that they don't belive that a pony would defeat a dalek. In a head to head fight. Also, when you have to resort to enemiy hitting themselves, it means that YOU don't have anything to fight them with yourself(maulwo... gahh, don't know how he is spelled. the giant mole. X)). You're talking TECH vs TECH. Which also implies knowing weak points. I keep telling you, that a guy with a wand and level 10 will not be able to win against a war machine with level 60+

The Daleks have since corrected those flaws. They'd just levitate up the stairs and their force fields can dissolve things now (and honestly, if the show had kept internal consistency Ace wouldn't have been able to do that at all. It's been long established that dalekanium can withstand physical damage short of anti-tank rockets or Nitro-9. Of course, Ace knows how to make Nitro-9...). The baseball bat would be reduced to a stick, the rope to ashes, and Applejack's hooves to glue.

cybermen shots are WAY more powerful than AJ's strengh, and the daleks still were able to resist against them, he wouldn't even feel this, and also, HE HAS A LASER GUN, JUST SHOOT ALREADY!!!
