Description
Candice rolled her eyes at the sight of Lorraine Pressley entering the aisle in the dressing room. The short, moon-faced little woman always looked pitiful and pathetic, even more so today--she wore shiny eye makeup and way too much lipstick, not to mention a frumpy cross-threaded dress that looked twenty years out of style. In contrast, Candice knew she looked amazing in her tight gray-and-black exercise attire, ready to go out and draw the stares of most everyone in the college gym. She wondered what Lorraine was even doing here, anyway--and what was that she had in her hand? Some kind of hat...?
Lorraine glanced around nervously, seemed content to find the two of them alone, pulling the ridiculous-looking headgear on over her long brown hair. "Like it?" she asked with a smile, running a hand along the brim.
"A witch's hat?" laughed Candice. "Oh, please, did someone have a constume party and forget to tell me?"
"Not exactly," replied Lorraine, her smile growing wider. "It's not a costume. I've been practicing this particular spell so long, and now, well...now that I can finally get even with you for all the humiliation you've put me through these last few years at school...I just felt I should dress appropriately, that's all."
Candice drew herself up to her full five feet ten, nearly a full head taller than her fellow classmate--about eye level with the pointy top of the comical witch's cap. "Oh, please, don't even try to scare me with your fake power trip," she scoffed. "You're so pathetic, Lorraine--trying to sound important when you look utterly ridiculous! You're nothing but a tiny little joke, and that's all you'll ever be. Now get out of my way--unlike you, I've got people to impress."
She started to push by, but stopped in her tracks as Lorraine started uttering a few strange syllables under her breath. Candice started to turn, to utter another insult, or make another derisive taunt, but couldn't get the words out. The world started spinning, and everything expanded, distorting in all directions, even as she fell, gasping for breath, crumpling and crawling, barely conscious as something huge lifted her, taking her away on a long, weaving, seemingly endless journey...
Candice struggled to her feet, trying to make sense of her surroundings. Something huge hovered in the air directly ahead--an enormous face, smiling down at her, far too big to be real. The face of Lorraine, now a giantess, still wearing the witch's cap, as if it were a badge of honor, or perhaps a reward for completing her first spell as fully trained witch.
She leaned down at her shrunken victim, uttering a low laugh that made little Candice shudder. "So, who's the tiny little joke now, hmm...?"
