Description
This started as a basic character study, which is why Twilight is in such a boring angle/pose. Also, I was drawing this while listening to some Fullmetal Alchemist music, which might explain the sad theme. I wanted to draw something sad, so I guess this'll do.And of course, Rarity doesn't just grieve, she grieves in style, which insinuates that it might be someone's funeral, or they visit someone's grave, whichever comes first.

Given that it's Rarity and Twilight, I'd say Spike bit the big one.

I say it's mostly likely Spike who died, because the specific Rarity (his crush who most likely likes him back) and Twilight (his sisterlike best friend) go to his grave.

Excuse me, but I kind of fail to see the connection between deceased ferrets and Rarity dressing fabulously (opposed to Twilight).

If it's not a pony or friend, Twilight would feel sorry but wouldn't dress up for the funeral unless Fluttershy asked. Rarity would make a grieving outfit instantly, since it's the right occasion and she wouldn't be too sad to make a dress unlike a friend's funeral.
