Page 58 of my web comic, FiM: Without Magic.Trixie having gone to Princes Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns has been part of MLP Expanded Universe law for several years now, but there hasn't been all that much attempt in the fandom to explore how Trixie might have gotten there.
This is my version.
My headcanon says that Trixie as seen on the show probably couldn't have passed an audition like Twilight did. Simply because her magical skills are very different. Least of all because Trixie is very impatient, and not a book worm. Her skills are more form and less function. So, she would have had to have impressed Celestia in some non-acedemic way.
I think that Celestia would have probably found Trixie in some random\open setting and been impressed with something that she did.

I made a style choice to draw all of the pony characters using an identical eye design. Mares, Stallions and Foals are all drawn the same even though they are different in the comics.
The only exception to this is Luna. I usually draw her with stars\sparkles on her eyes and when there is a large head shot of her I often draw more detail in. It just takes too much time to replicate this effect for every character. Luna is just special.

do you only add canon characters? and how did you learned to draw like that?

As I'm trying to tell a story that exists inside the established MLP universe most of the characters that I use are show canon. It makes it easier to tell the story as they already have established characters and characteristics. It's also easier to draw an existing character than it is to simply make one up and have it looking good. The show's creators have already done the hard part of designing the mane and tail style and picking the color pallet.
Sometimes I just want some random characters to fill the background of a scene, so I pallet swap a canon character or two for variety.
I've only ever drawn a few actual OCs. The hard part is deciding what you want them too look like without making them look like existing characters drawn in different colors.
I primarily use Inkscape to create my characters. It's a vector based tool so it's pretty similar in principal to the tools that DHX use to draw the real characters in the show. Using Inkscape makes it easier to get the look of the characters, because you're using the same techniques as the show's creators, and have similar features\limitations.
If you look at my early attempts, you'll see that I didn't get it right first time. My characters started out much simpler and chunkier, and I've gradually made them more detailed and more refined. As I'm trying to get as many pages out as quickly as I can I don't tend to go for the level of quality and detail that some of the more traditional comic book creators put in. Especially the ones who had draw their comics.
I usually manage 3-4 pages a month. They manage about 1 page in 3 weeks. So I sacrifice quality for quantity.
Yes, I said it, practice practice practice. Unless you have a natural talent for drawing (Which I don't), the only way to be any good is to keep doing it.

Agreed. Without social commentary, politicians probably wouldn't know what to fix in the country.
However, I find it unlikely that Princess Celestia would participate in acts that clearly violate the freedom of her subjects. Even if they are non-pony subjects. She's never seemed to act like a tyrant in the show at all.

My head canon is that Equestria is only a recently integrated society.
Which is why we rarely see any non-ponies in the early episodes, and are gradually getting more as the series goes on.
Maybe it was city authorities rather than Celestia who put the curfew in place. OR Maybe Celestia simply didn't trust Griffins back then.
Either way, it's my head canon.
It's only relatively recently in American history that segregation ended.

I demand equal right for griffins! Putting a curfew on griffins simply because they aren't ponies is racist in the extreme. I don't remember seeing any signs in Griffinstone saying that ponies had a curfew while there.

Well, in many real world private schools scholarships are paid for through fundraisers, donations, and bequests.
I would guess that, at over 1,000 years old, Celestia probably also has her own independent means of support. She'd clean up on longer term investments. Maybe she owns a tea plantation or two, or she simply marries into money every hundred years or so.
I suppose that it could come form the treasury. Countries like Britain have state funded schools for gifted children. Why not Equestria?
After all, an advanced education system benefits all of society.
