The following morning, Christopher, having had it up to his limit with all the things that have happened in the last few days and has lost his patience, begins to shout.

Christopher: We've wasted all this time on what he wants! The boat could arrive any day, now ASK HIM STRAIGHT OUT!

While his friends have their conversation, Alex looks around at all the structures in the camp. Lyndsey walks up behind him with a simple question.

Lyndsey: Alex, will you take us to see the animals? Do you understand?

Alex: *nodding* I understand.

Thanks to all the teaching, Alex could now understand what Lyndsey was saying, and could now speak clear sentences.

Professor Rathbone: Good work, Lyndsey!

The Professor feels proud to see how all of Lyndsey’s work in teaching Alex their ways, had finally paid off.

Christopher rushes out in front and is eager to hear Alex’s answer.

Christopher: Well?

Alex: *sadly* I can't.

Both Christopher and the Professor are shocked to hear a "no" answer. Lyndsey, wanting to know why, follows up with another question.

Lyndsey: Why not, Alex?

Alex: *sighing* My Father.

Alex’s answer shocks everyone in the camp. A million questions were running through the explorers’ heads that day.

Lyndsey: (In her thoughts) Alex has a father?

Professor: (In his thoughts) Who is his father?

Christopher: (In his thoughts) Why would Alex’s father not let him near the animals?

With their dreams shattered, Lyndsey, Christopher, and the Professor feel as if this trip was all for nothing. While Alex runs through the camp like a kid in a candy store, Christopher is more angry than ever, as he begins to flip tables, tear papers, and rip apart equipment, all because Alex’s "father" would not let him bring them to see the animals.
