Approaching Alex, Christopher puts his new plan in action.

Christopher: *sighing* Women! How typical.

One of the crew mates pours some red wine into two clean glass cups, as Christopher approaches the heartbroken Jungle Fox, offering Alex the second glass of wine as he puts his arm around Alex and begins to explain how women work.

Christopher: Even if you hadn't grown up a savage, you'd still be lost. There are no shortcuts to a woman's heart!

Alex: *sadly* Lyndsey is going to leave and be your mate?

Christopher: Yes… If only she could've spent more time with the animals. She's so disappointed, crushed really. Besides, have you ever heard of an ‘arranged mating?’

Alex: Arranged Mating?

Christopher: *Nodding* It’s when the two mates-to be are forced to come together by outside forces, sometimes even when they do not love one another. Mine and Lyndsey’s engagement is one such arrangement.

Alex begins to let Christopher’s words sink in, and ponders about what he should do, in order to keep Lyndsey in his life. Christopher then places his glass away before grabbing Lyndsey’s suitcases.

Christopher: Sorry, old boy. Oh well, I'd best get Lyndsey’s things to the ship.

As Christopher turns with Lyndsey’s bags to head for the boat, Alex stops him.

Alex: Christopher, if Lyndsey sees the animals, she stays?

Christopher: *smiling in response* Say, that's why she came, isn't it? If she sees them, she’ll have a reason to stay, and with me back in England, she won’t be obligated to marry me anymore.

Every nerve in Alex’s body tells him no. He had promised Zoma that he would not bring Lyndsey and her fellow explorers to the Herd Grounds. But if he wanted Lyndsey to stay with him, he would have to do something about it.

Alex: *Nodding* I’ll do it.

Christopher: Good man! *pats Alex on the back*
