Description

The captain of the ship holds onto the boat, as the waves were trying to drag it out to sea, and calls out to Lyndsey, for it was time to leave.

Captain: *Impatiently* Miss Clarke!

Lyndsey: *Stuttering while trying not to cry* I-I know, I'm coming! *Turning back to Alex* Well… I suppose we should say goodbye.

Lyndsey reaches out her hand, expecting Alex to shake it. But as she stretches out her hand, Alex remembers all too well, what this hand gesture meant. He reaches out his own hand in response and as their hands meet, their fingers touch each other and spread out while the two looked into each other's eyes, mirroring their first meeting.

While Alex is able to keep his emotion together with some effort, Lyndsey is unable to hold back her tears.

Lyndsey: *retracting her hand* Goodbye.

Before she can cry anymore, Lyndsey rushes into the boat with the Professor. Alex slowly lowers his hand and watches Lyndsey drift further away while Professor Rathbone waves goodbye to him.

Professor: Goodbye Alex, goodbye! *turning back around to sit* Oh, I'm going to miss that boy.

As the boat is rowed towards the ship, against the oncoming waves, the Professor turns and notices how heartbroken Lyndsey looks.
