Description
The monster is the Guardian of the Gardens. Its only purpose is to protect the great tree from the Ink, and anything else that it sees as a threat.

All doorways the monster uses lead to and from the Gardens, unless it is the Library door. The monster is eight feet high at the shoulder, and is strictly quadrupedal.

It roams the hallways of the Asylum, trying to find the source of the Ink and possibly stop it. If sees any contestants it is likely to attack them. Under no circumstances should you enter the Gardens.

But why did Io become the monster? The Gardens always require a Guardian, and when the prior Guardian dies or is absorbed into the tree it chooses a new one from the patients. Io has no memories of his own and no chance of regaining them, therefore he made the perfect choice. He was unable to leave the Asylum, ensuring that he could not abandon the Gardens before he became the new Guardian.

There is little to no chance that he will change back to how he was.
