many thanks good call V-22, this was avery steep descent and the mallard dropped everything to try to scrub off speed.
this was never gonna be a wave off

Thankyou well its the shots that dictate how well i can pull it off with a merge. I managed to get 8 good shots out of little more than 2secs of descent all nicely spaced and positioned.
so everything corresponds as i overlap and merge them.

Thankyou, fascination is exactly what attracts me to birds and especially when they are in flight. they make it look so easy and gracefull.

For me too. We have tall Cherry trees in our garden and can watch the birds coming in in the morning from bed (quite a luxury). Chaffinches in flight are particularly impressive. Sometimes they come in at such speed, change direction in mid air in an instant and land precisely with perfect grace. At other times they seem to perform a kind of tumbling flight through the garden like falling leaves in the wind.

We have loads of feeders up and I love to watch all the different characters and flight patterns the different species have.

Your discription of the Chaffinches is very accurate indeed, from the images i capture its quite crazy the speeds and angles/ they take in flight. fascinating!!!!!!
